The record kicks off with “Parkway,” the chillest of the package. It’s an easy, swinging tune that ebbs and flows like the Pacific during high tide with jittery synth ditties dancing off the atmospheric washes.
The A2 is Runaway’s remix, and while they leave the original structure mostly intact, they add some oomph to the bass kicks and distort the melodies, fuzzing and glitching them out to yield a more hard-edged final product.
The flips first tune, “Downtown,” is, as the name implies, of a more urban nature, and definitely intended for a late-night warehouse rager. Anxiously, the song pushes ahead with an aggressive, pumping bass line and frantic, sharp synth chords, assertive handclaps, and a hi-hat that’s got plenty of swagger.
The 12inch wraps up with “Need Your Love,” which finds Stalker picking up the pace even more, this time embracing an acid house aesthetic. The four tracks come together to form a little narrative that begins with a cool night drive down the Pacific Coast Highway and ends up deep in L.A.’s after-hours party circuit.
