From the array of collaborations seen in recent times, the Nottingham based producers Dudley Strangeways and Michael McLardy are back to flaunt their highly recognisable talent on Back To Yous 6th EP release of >Fletchers Curve. This 4 track EP sees the duo start with 2 original collaborations >Dazzled< and >Fletchers Curve< with a revisit from Adam Shelton and Matthew Styles to help complete the already strong EP.
With an equilibrium of strong bass and a stunted mixture of relaxed vocals, Dudley Strangeways and Michael McLardy introduce ‘Dazzled’ with an early crescendo, helping to draw us in. With an easy going beat, this mellow yet catchy track melts into comfortable regularity, complimented by an uncompromising pace.
Adam Shelton’s remix of ‘Dazzled’ is a much more energetic version of the original. With a faster tempo, Shelton’s version is harsher in the way that it is rough and choppy in its delivery. Ending as suddenly as it starts, and with an array of sounds unfamiliar to the original, this track lends a slightly darker and more sinister, but nonetheless hugely appealing tone, setting yet another perfect dance floor scene.
Following a smooth transition into ‘Fletcher’s Curve’, McLardy and Strangeways present a piece of fluctuating softer sounds, juxtaposed with a sharp bass track beat. Easy to lose yourself in it, the track sees us fall into a sensual familiarity of repetition, enhanced by the hypnotizing echo of female vocals.
As a faster paced and more upbeat concoction, Matthew Styles’ remix of ‘Fletchers Curve’ involves several crescendos through the piece, leading up to a quick staccato of sound before settling back into the original bass track. Altogether an entirely different piece, Styles’ remix of the track takes us through an array of highs and lows throughout the piece, offering a quicker beat to work the floor with.
With the ‘Fletcher’s Groove‘ release being the 6th for the Back To You collection, it seems to have been the perfect release to have followed on from Sehou’s ‘Heure Verte’ and shows a clear continuation for quality music set out in Back To You’s initial goal intention.
