With this third release we have returned to the structure of our first release together to bring you too wicked examples of his original take on house with a final track to send you on your way bathed in psychedelic sunshine vibes. How Leon manages to combine ruff edges with smooth vibes is a talent in itself.
First track 'Untitled 017' has all the chopped up crunchy vocal hooks needed to catch your ears plus Leon's trademark hi-hats and reigned-in rhythmic tricks. However these are offset by a bubbling beauty of a bassline, gorgeous chords, addictive melodic phrases and a rolling percussion sound that sounds like wire brushes on hollow steel. This is catchy and idiosyncratic house music taking familiar formulas and finding fresh ways forward. Flip for 'Title #7' which compliments the A side perfectly. Deep classic piano chords and a warm elastic bass, hovering strings that conjoure haze on a distant horizon, it's a joyous assembly of individual sounds and hits coalescing into a soulful satisfying whole. Nothing's too obvious here, but it all feels instinctively right. Finally 'Rosalind' is a short soundtrack to a cosmic love affair that leaves a lasting impression, of happiness, unity, peace and serenity. And outer space!
