Adam Jay’s “Mediastinum EP” is the product of a near death experience turned into an opportunity to create. After experiencing acute trauma to the left lung, the artist was diagnosed with pneumomediastinum, The sounds featured in the production of this record were recorded in the Intensive Care Unit at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. “Inward” is a raw, stripped down stomper filled with anxiety and a pace of purpose. The A2 track, “Terrible Precision” brings an atmosphere of tension and darkness that drives the EP forward. The synth groove of “Chatter” sits atop the recordings of medical monitoring equipment intended to alarm the listener. The unsettling dischord created is contrasted by a powerful low end groove. “Concert Of The Machines” comes with an addictive half time broken beat groove. The warm, effected electric piano work plays off more alert sounds from the hospital room creating a chilled out vibe that is ideal for closing a set. Already support from Justin Berkovi, Nigel Richards, Gayle San, Tony Rohr, Andrei Morant, and Brian Kage.
