Disco music as God intended it - Arms aloft, eyes shut, inhibitions nowhere to be seen, smiles bigger than life itself. What we have here is not an edit as such but a reworking of Chaka Khans What You Did, Subtly Housed up, re-arranged, chopped, fil-tered and re-mastered within an inch of its life - Chaka herself pretty much always sounds in-credible but here the vocal just seems to stand even taller than usual. On the other side we have something in which some of our slightly older party folk may well recognise. Dionnes House classic from 88 gets the full edit treatment and the timing on this just seems so right. Originally released on the ace Bigshot label out of Canada (and was just huge in the Hacienda), re-mastered, stretched out, re-arranged and making the most out of all those old school stabs, ploddy bass lines and timeless vocals.
