these redux releases are like buses, we dont hear anything for ages then they hit us with three killer eps in a row. following the grand corporation and machete savane comes the return of phoreski. we have not heard much from phoreski for a little while, but you will soon hear why when you put the needle to the record on these two new tracks. he has been busily building up his studio into an enviable aladdins den of vintage kit, wires and analogue recording equipment. all synths and vocals you hear on these tracks come from phoreski, no samples, no guests, no edits. he has been hinting at this raw, analogue authentic sound for a while, but these tracks showcase a producer at one with the machines. >brown biscuits< comes across like some lost italo/cosmic gem, but via the north east of england rather than the lakes of italy. >machines< flexes tight proto-house rhythms with some bass that will make mince meat of lesser club soundsystems whilst the feuding synth lines fight for attention. this is proper body music, play loud!

glasgow underground launches a new mix compilation series in may with the release of optimo:the underground sound of glasgow mixed by optimos jd twitch. each installment of the underground sound of… will see a dj focus on his or her home city, compiling mixing and collection of music from said city. this 12 inch features 5 of the rarer tracks from the mix.

repress alert! this is what legends are made of: acid house, chicago 1988, mickey oliver and his hot mix 5 records, larry heard aka fingers, pierre, phortune & armando. released in 1988, acid lp was the first and only full length on hot mix 5 records. it is much more than a classic album, it s a staple for any self respecting dj. this is probably one of the best acid house compilation to make it out of chicago. still music is proud to start its hot mix 5 records reissue series with such a monument to house. every track on here is a classic in its own right, with pierre s dreamgirl, armando s 151, the two incredible mr. fingers tunes the juice and ecstasy and so much more. for the first time, this reissue features all the songs that were on the original release but remastered and on a double lp. don t sleep on the acid.

the debut release of swedish artist combo (he is half of s.u.m.o. which is well known as jazzy house artist in the beginning of 2000). probably some people know his excellent edit of robert hood >minus<. the title track of a side is modern beatdown house with the emotional piano loop sound. if you like the release of the revenge or mark e, you will like this song. b1 is an old school house version of the title track and >uptown< on b2 is early new york house sound.

90s flavoured house

iconic deep house label large music returns to the vinyl market with a limited repress of the classic kerri chandler release return 2 acid. first pressed in 2005, this was the 100th release on large and has been out of print for 10 years. the a side features kerri s powerhouse tribute to the glorious days of acid house laced with driving beats and an incessant 808 acid line. on the flip side kerri goes old-school, this time with an electro afrika bambaataa influenced jam entitled planet sonic. also included for this special reissue is the unreleased acapella of return 2 acid solidifying this as a true collectors item
