dance aiming to go somewhat deeper and darker than his debut album, on some kind of sign ernesto endevours to go beyond the obvious and easily cliched elements of an electronic lp, capturing the world within the spaces, using otherworldly modulars and field recordings to take the listener to the outer reaches of the albums very heart and soul.

argentinian dj and producer, ernesto ferreyra, provided cadenza with a rich and inspirational album back in 2010, the intricate and balanced el paraiso de las tortugas was a masterclass in minimal electronic dance. four years on, and ernesto returns to lucianos label with the insight single, and a precursor to another album for the label, slated for october release. voltage poem displays a huge progression for ernesto, a stomping, elastic backbeat, peppered with live percussion, shakers and micro glitches dances around the mechanical funk of the bassline.

ernesto ferreyra is a producer of pedigree, and a bastion of quality over quantity. his releases for cynosure and mutek_rec and his stunning album for lucianos cadenza imprint attest to this. his new message from abroad ep for memoria continues his trend for finding beauty and groove in depth and restraint.

supported by brett johnson, woody, dj t, chris duckenfield and laurent garnier !! >the last shooter< uses mind bending funk to tell the story of three people ending an epic day/night in a blaze of jagermeister glory. the most descriptive element of this tracky adventure would be the misguided, off kilter synth twists that give the listener the illusion of drunkenness and vertigo. backed with a spine of latin percussion and tweaked low rez hi hats this a side packs a punch that can be only compared to >the last shooter< of the night.funk flows on when you flip it to side b. fongtom rides along with a thick walking bass line that weaves grinds with some of ferreyras signature percussion. a playful melody serves as the memory game hook that wont fade away even after a post joint meltdown or a night of mtv top 40 abuse

sometimes a track is so hot it just has to come back around again. about ten years ago brett johnson and dave barker (stucco homes) wrote some unbelievably catching house tunes, one of them being temptation and lies. so it just seemed right to give this track yet another life. deadbeat and mike shannon dive deep into a stripped down techno groover, removing the constant use of the vocals and creating a rolling techno dub version. some seriously deep bass in the production that works the subs in all the right places. ernesto ferreyra and guillaume coutu dumont aka chic miniature give you a playful melodic version on the flip. full use of the original chord progressions, combined with the guys signature marimba/latin percussion leaving you with a lush, warm summer hit. then brett dives into the track again giving you the oohs and ahhs mix. a ten minutes work out with bjs patented groove focused on the vocal harmonies in the original. the result is a warped, spaced out, long player that is sure to twist a few heads. mental just about sums it up. of course we had to include the original masterpiece for those who didnt find it the first time round. a favorite of everyone involved on the remix project i think youll agree that the temptation and lies cynosure mixes do the original some justice.
