originally released in 1990 the sun & moon mix of ,walk on air, has taken on near mythical status as a benchmark record that brought together strands of ambient, deep house, techno and trance. the b side sees the original amphibious carbine mix joined by two previously unreleased dubs unearthed from the original dat tapes.

holy ghost! are back in 2014 with 2 epic remixes, both sourced from the disco epicenter of norway and taken from their acclaimed sophomore lp dynamics.

dumb disco ideas is a new song from the bands upcoming sophomore album, dynamics, which will be released this fall. dynamics will be the follow-up to the groups critically acclaimed self titled debut album which was released in 2011 and was hailed as a classic pop album by the los angeles times.

holy ghost! steps out of the studio with a new track, it gets dark. recorded during the sessions for their next lp (coming in 2013), this dark dancer comes as a limited edition of 600 on single-sided vinyl, featuring the original and an instrumental. comes with a free digital download card.

the final single from the self-titled holy ghost! lp before alex & nick return to the studio, commencing work on lp2. the b-side features an amazingly retro extended 12 inch remix by dimitri from paris. limited to 300 stamped white label copies.

in its original form, holy ghost!s debut album cut >hold my breath< is, pure and simple, great dancefloor electronic pop, in the hands of shadowy duo tiger & woods, the song has been totally reshaped and refracted through 80s r&b radio. they have slowed the pace and inserted synth-funk hot flashes that recall prince – and, no kidding, the time, and jimmy jam & terry lewis – to create a mood that fits comfortably (and pleasurably) within their future boogie m.o. cosmic kids ron poznansky and dan terndrup have taken the track in a more tensely dramatic direction. it might be the vaguely darkened synthline upon which much of that track sits that lends itself to its more intense feel here, and gives it such a pleasant nocturnal feel. finally, theres falty dls re-envisioning, which goes down awfully smooth for a track so full of the big, thick, bumping bass beats. it’s an aural pleasure to find yourself dreamily lost in the brooklyn, new york producer/djs halls of reverberating sound.

glaswegian producer, label owner and globe trotting dj graeme clark, aka the revenge, takes on holy ghost!s >say my name< – a song from the duos ep static on the wire that, in its original incarnation, is a lovely, smooth slice of electronic pop. the revenge re-models the single three times over, into a trio of distinct remixes all bearing his unmistakable signature. first up on the vinyl 12inch is the revenge remix, which starts out like a hollowed-out, hall-of-echoes version of its predecessor and then grows – bit by bit and synth by syth – into a gorgeous swirl. on the revenge instrumental, clark ups the disco ante, removing the vocal melody and replacing it with elements equally as compelling: a classic beat, synthesized strings, double handclaps, and an essential electric bassline

holy ghost! is the eponymous debut album from electro duo and remixers extraordinaire nick millhiser and alex franka label. hailing from new york, the twosome made their mark with remixes of tunes from the likes of moby, mgmt and cut copy, and the album includes the single -do it again-.

reworks by another taste of three tracks from arp frique & the perpetual singers.

early transmissions 1990-95

after releasing a string of quality eps for the likes of charlois, doppellschall and permanent vacation, amsterdam based artist dollkraut (pascal pinkert) confirmed in 2014 with his debut album schimanskis black lullabies on brandt brauer fricks imprint the gym. the dutch producers back with his sophomore lp due february 24th 2017 on dischi autunno new label founded by jennifer cardini and noura labbani. holy ghost people sees dollkraut delve deeper into his recognizable lo-fi and organic sound, inspired by old movie soundtracks, creating gritty atmospheres mixed with the purest of melodies. album opens with instant hit bonnie said, where pascals vocals magically merge with the darkest of bass lines. valium continues the journey, increasing the tempo but confirming the feeling of being in a lost sci-fi movie soundtrack. on oblivian, the rhythm slows down again, allowing us to dive even more in this twisted yet candid universe.

tuamie returns to street corner music with holy ghost spirituals, the third release in scm’s gospel flip series. following jake one and ras_g’s collections, tuamie chops and flips his sanctified selections into raw beats. a no brainer for a tuamie fans, this will not be around long.

remixes come from two heavyweights of their respective scenes. in a once in a lifetime meeting of the super exclamatory dance heros, dfa stars holy ghost! fully actualize the disco potential of the song, turning it into an eight minute workout, with nancy whang (lcd soundsystem / juan maclean) providing additional vocals. bart b more needs no introduction, the man is electro house incarnate. all the requisite dancefloor shattering moves and for a funkier take on turning the world upside down, check out his dub mix.
