berlin based englishman matthew styles make his second appearance on tamed musiq with a wonderful four tracks ep called communique. recommended!

release no.2 on nofitstate sees matthew styles taking over the reigns the signals ep is a varied beast as youd expect from one of the most distinguished and versatile producers of the last couple of years. signals kicks things off, a beautifully effortless flowing groove with on-point percussion and subtle elements that keep things moving perfectly. lucky keeps the vibe nice and deep, a razor sharp snare imbuing the track with a sense of energy whilst codex leans toward melody with it s pitch perfect arpeggiated motif dominating proceedings. gesopik console rounds the ep off nicely with a nod to nu-disco energy.

as a long time label ally, it seems ridiculous that matthew styles hasnt previously had a release out on classic. previously releasing on like minded imprints such as running back, ostgut ton, bpitch and turning mix albums for crosstown rebels. classic are proud to initiate matthew back into the family with this new three track ep.

the return of matthew styles for running back (check his sample & hold ep for his psychic powers) sees the berliner-by-choice immersing in his very own world of h-music, where tony humphries thrones next to ricardo villalobos and with enough room for all the wonderful chums in between!

englishman matthew styles is a special one. firmly schooled in the history of dance music as a dj, his productions usually carry a uniqueness that cannot be located in time and space - a little bit like what courtney melody tried to put into words with his >modern girl<. styles debut for running back is his first solo release in a long while and ticks all the niceness boxes: straight up house with >dont call me again< that works itself up in a frenzy, the rough and ready >scale< performance without a ruffle, >polee< and its irresistible melody and last but not least the percussive and bass-heavy lunacy of >galaxy 21<. yee-haw! styles for days !!

2012 - we are milleniumized neo, more than ever before. 1993, when techno was all over the place, german experts tommi eckart (at that time not 2raumwohnung yet) and ralf hertwig (at that time not palais schaumburg anymore) released a track, which found its way out there as a legendary underground-club classic in germany,england, benelux and france: the beat just goes straight on and on. its been sold out for years, but djs still play it in the clubs and it never lost its beat. now in 2012, almost 20 years later, the vinyl reissue being released, including the original cut and a remix by matthew styles & tobi neumann. it just goes on and on, enjoy!

phantasma volume 2 by dinky, matthew styles and pier bucci is out now. this lovingly designed record is produced by three artists we really like and and it is just grea they decided to work with us again. matthew is damn sure one of our favourite producers and pier s skills are nothing short of his. on the last release we made with them, they d worked together as oblique strategies on balld inc. for phantasma volume 2 pier wrote a track on his own, highlighting the noble beats he is known for and expanding the explicit cadenced patterns with a chord phrase that leads the structure to perfection. dinky whose work was released on such labels as cocoon, traum, vakant and of course on her own imprint horizontal composed the other side together with matthew and you can sense their familiarity at once. the two arranged >choises< carefully, sleek and free of any kind of hubris. well, this attitude is hart to find these days and their versed piece may calm your stressed out ears both in the club and at home
