kumia is the title of the 13th release from international sound laboratory and is written and produced by isl artist tuomas salmela aka phonogenic. kumia connects the sound of his previous release, artifacts with the continuation of the latest developments from our finnish collaboration laboratory in tampere, finland. this time we also sent a sample to specialist researcher samuli kemppi, who also is involved with heavy duty works on labels such as luke slaters mote evolver.

second ep by phonogenic on tanzbar musik! after his grandious 2 track ep -the remedy / reanimated-, released as tanzbar010 in the year 2008 and many other releases and remixes on labels like highgrade, turbo, cocoon,… tuomas is back with the random erotica ep!

a dark club, glimpsed through flashes of light, a little fog dividing the space - the ideal backdrop for a dazzling appearance on the dance floor. with the abrupt onset of pulsating beats, booming drums and rhythmic rattling, deep and sexy vocals also appear and >that philosophy< from sasse and phonogenic forms the prefect soundtrack to the scene.

the new single, chi chi, by the labels favorite artists, the inimitable phonogenic and sasse, get played by sven vath, joris voorn, steve bug, deetron amongst many more! including remix by wiretappeur alias stel, florian kruse and nils nurnberg.

phonogenics >postcard< is slow burner, building and rising to a eventual climax of melancholic underwater deepness. this song will no doubt be played by those in the later time slots and anyone who wants to add a little journey to their mixes. our main man dex aka dave barker is back with another slice of some quality melodic quirky goodness. >yikes!< has a very chopped up funk/soul feel mixed with solid house beats. studio trickery and a hidden japanese opera helps the track evolve from its soulful beginning to another world entirely. finally, we are very pleased to bring you the first of many musical efforts from amantu wilde. not much is known about amantu as he is a bit of a recluse and does not offer up much information about himself. >g-g-got my eyes on you< is a very retro sounding track reminiscent of some classic new wave jams. pseudo industrial percussion and excellent filter work make this track something to remember. something strange for sure but we think people will like the break from the mod rn sounds

the >midnight drop ep< is phonogenic at his absolute best dropping 3 tracks of wicked fresh, germanic, house music. the title track is an inspired, lush, flowing house workout best dropped, oddly enough, at midnight... limited restock

with tuomas salmela aka phonogenic, we welcome one of the most established finnish techno and house producers, with releases on 2020 vision, poker flat, moodmusic or f-com-munications. salmelas sound has something dark, reminding of the long finnish winters and cold nights. he does not feast in old times or posts the question of oldskool or newskool, but simply has produced something really new, without getting lost in clicks n cuts or doing too much sound research. phonogenic uses sentimental harmonies and stringent direct beats, that dont need complex building arrangements, but come to the point rather quickly and make clear where the journey will take us. similarly to guy gerber, phonogenics productions also are somewhere in between techno and houseand even use elements of trance. however, salmelas productions always make the impression of being well planned and moody

after the well received 'ladies and playboys ep ' warmup, phonogenic audio is ready to take things to the next level with this 3-track monster piece of wax titled 'synth ethics ep'.. sasse and tuomas, 2 friends met up for lunch at the local supermarket ( keskisen kesäkauppa ) in tampere, finland ( were tuomas is living ), went straight to the airport, took the first flight to berlin and locked themselves up in the famous blackhead studios in the illfated chausseestr. are in berlin mitte. the result is a quirky, acidic remix of 'supreme' by phonogenic and a syrupy boogie take on 'air moves' by freestyleman
