now, a year after he celebrated the success of his lp good morning midnight, niko schwind ups the heat on stil vor talent with the versatile we are the future ep that showcases a specatacular sonic progression while remaining true to what niko does best: melodic house music. on all i want, niko lures you into a deep abyss aided by a straight groove and rapid vocal stutters until a swampy bassline, subtle piano melodies and a promiscuous female voice swallow you to the point of no return. beautifully melancholic, yet floorfriendly, this a1 is bound to leave its mark on international dance floors!

and here it is: the second vinyl ep of niko schwinds album >good morning midnight<. it features some of the unique tracks that niko has created together with some of berlins hottest production talents. on the a side are two tracks that feature the clicky tech-house boys that are channel x, where things kick off with >back from the bar<. it sounds as the title suggests: a little wobbly, a little drunk, a little crazy, but also pretty magic. quite clearly this is an homage to one of berlins not-to-be-forgotten clubs that is unfortunately history now. but things continue on here at least with >dont turn the lights on<, a more straightforward dancefloor track, with a trumpet as the main protagonist. this is one of those tracks that keeps leading up to a real arms-in-the-air-moment if it wasn’t so damn housy at the same time. on the flip the magical connection between niko and label daddy oliver koletzki can be heard on >master of ceremony<, a chopped-up house track with epic dimensions. when things get to the piano breakdown, they get very musical and colossal before dropping back into a great house track. the stark contrast between the piano melody and the groove on this really make it. last but not least then, the original album opener >good morning< that features the singing of fran. it works great as a great album opener, but also perfectly as a slower and more thoughtful addition to a great ep

might niko schwind be the new kingpin of house music? everybody needs to find out for himself of course and that is best done when listening to his freshest output for stil vor talent: the “midnightfunk” ep. it kicks off with the title track that features the great chicagoeske vocal skills of patrick blasa, who takes us in on this journey towards a time when house music ruled the waves of the club oceans. imagine a sticky slap bass, cowbells, high-pitched vocals and low-pitched male laughing plus of course the greatest thing about this scorcher: a somewhat jetlagged piano that seems to leap behind in one moment to then be right there again when it matters. ace!

extraordinary pieces of music have long stood in direct correlation to the physical surroundings that inspire them. when oliver koletzki and niko schwind packed up their berlin studios last april to spend a month locked away in a cottage nestled in the stunning nature of cape towns noordhoek area before heading to afrikaburn, little did they know that its long beaches, dramatic mountain views and the heritage of its indigenous people would have such a profound effect on the club-ready sound they had championed with a string of eps and live-performances since 2015. the result of four weeks of geo-cultural stimuli and creative experimentation culminated in the album noordhoek, released in may 2018 on stil vor talent. while the productions on noordhoek display the same on-point sound design of previous oliver koletzki and niko schwind releases, the impressive emotional depth and electronic floor-focus of its twelve tracks effortlessly merge with complex rhythmic textures to form a contemporary narrative on ancient dance rituals. after a roller coaster ride through twelve versatile yet coherent productions, one thing is certain as the ultimate crack of thunder crashes down on noordhoek: south africa fuelled the creative energy of two remarkable musicians, who where able to translate the abundance of their impressions into a truly original world of sound.

niko schwind now presents the fruit of his labour in the from of his third album: grippin world captivates the listeners with its versatility and coherence, and kidnaps them to a world of sound, made up of elegantly reduced grooves, organic arrangements and accessible vocal-melodies.

we return with the sixth installment of the beloved stil vor talent berlin compilation series, which brings forth a group of old and new faces, who exclusively contributed unreleased tracks, gathered under the umbrella of berlins best repurposed space. since flughafen tempelhof ceased operating in 2008, it has given hours upon hours of joy and peace to the cityÕs public in the form of tempelhoferfeld, a gigantic park crisscrossed by the airports former runways. the perfect retreat to unwind in, right on the border of kreuzberg and neukšlln. as always, music is the common denominator and oliver koletzki delivers the perfect soundtrack with this new release, while chrisse kunst renders the visuals.
