music for dreams are extremely proud to announce the first-ever vinyl release of *cantoma*, the debut album from legendary café del mar dj and collector extraordinaire, phil mison aka cantoma. left, right and center, phil has been one of the key players in the chill out/balearic scene and today is more in- demand than ever playing festivals and clubs all over europe - recent gigs include playing dj harveys birthday bash at pikes in ibiza and alongside nyc icon justin strauss. his first album, the self-titled cantoma, was originally released back in 2003 and quickly become a modern chill out classic selling over 15.000 copies with tracks featured on more than 150 compilations and supported by quality djs such as ross allen, idjut boys, moonboots, harvey and many many more. triple vinyl release limited edition to 300 copies.
*out of town* fuses a wide variety of sounds and styles. the result is a beautiful, otherworldly album that moves effortlessly between blissful flamenco, shimmering, slo-mo nu disco, dubbed-out tango and haunting, ethereal soundscapes. first released back in 2010, *out of town* was the product of phil misons much loved cantoma project that was only available on cd and download at the time. now the classic album gets the vinyl release it deserves with hand numbered gatefold sleeve. limited to 500 copies.
two tracks, 1st is just landed , remixed by pete herbert... sexy, 2nd is alive ft. bing ji ling former vocalist with the phenomenal hanclap band and part of balearic supergroup paqua...
heres the first of the 3 vinyl samplers taken from the >out of town remixes< cd and it coming in a lovely heavyweight card picture sleeve 10 inch! limited to 300, this first one has japans favourite max essas vocal mix which takes us straight into the summer time feeling with an uplifting mix of >north shore<. on the b side, loft party co-host, cosmo takes >dix vertes< to the dub end and turns out a mix perfect for a cocktail on the beach.
two more missives from the leng stable, a stable basking in late afternoon sunshine the whole year round. here we have two remixes of cantoma tracks. on side a is ray mangs remix of under the stars a subtle disco groove, with a sweet rolling bass and a languid horn line that gently eases into the back of your mind, luring you into a hypnotic swirl. over on side-b lexx steps up to deliver an equally stunning take on gambara immdediately setting out a more electronic lilt, the track steadily builds into a mid tempo throb as the vocals wash over proceedings, while flute and acoustic guitar make way for each other in the melody stakes. timeless sounds on both sides evoking the summer just passed
the first teaser from the long awaited second album of phil mison (aka cantoma) comes in a true idjut boy haze. reminiscent of early u star at its best, their remix of >north shore< is one of the most locked-in grooves we have heard for some time. the vocal version sucks you into an almost trance like fashion and is purely made for the late night hours on a sweaty dancefloor. hearing this on a big system is truly a spiritual experience. the instrumental ties down an amazing second 12 inch for leng and gives us further excitement on the release of the second cantoma album. simply terrific.
leng records follows up last years out of town album with a selection of remixes and re-works of tracks taken from cantomas second long player ! out of town fused a wide variety of sounds and styles resulting in a beautiful, otherworldly album that moved effortlessly between blissful flamenco, shimmering, slo-mo nu disco, dubbed-out tango and haunting, ethereal soundscapes. the remixers were hand picked by cantoma aka phil mison due to their unique approach to music and their complementary production styles and the result is an album bursting with downtempo and dancefloor led remixes.
over the years, phil mison has become the go-to selector for those looking for ibiza-themed compilations. none of his previous collections, though, have been quite as personal as out of the blue, a compilation inspired by his first spell behind the decks at the café del mar in 1993 – and the remarkable chain of events leading up to it.
