it’s been a while since red lasers last release which left a void in the uk output of manctalo synth jams but now a planned schedule of three releases in quick succession means plenty more analogue chug for you to rattle your bones too.

there has been an emerging uk synth scene for a few years now, with vinyl labels like cyberdance, flight recorder and red laser pushing the sound onto vinyl pretty much alone in the uk. defiant against the odds, their resilience is now coming to fruition as it finally seems the scene is exploding inspiring new generations of synth disco lovers to create labels or parties based on the european output of the scene. an artist that has been associated with all said labels and has been riding the wave even when it was a mere ripple is kid machine.

cyber dance records return with a full-length double-vinyl album from manchesters kid machine (aka mark wilkinson) following a string of instantly sold-out eps for viewlexx, red laser and flight recorder. a long-time collaborator of world-famous italo disco dj flemming dalum, it is no surprise that many of the tracks have that hallmark space sound reminiscent of the likes of cyber people and koto, but mark stamps his own distinct identity on the genre by slowing down the bpms and incorporating many other influences throughout so that this is no retro affair but a distinctly fresh and modern take on the genre.

the record opens with utopia , a luminous, evocative and fascinating track by the german artist hyboid, the undoubted leader of space and cosmic sounds. the british artist kid machine replicates on the same album side with the track fighting fears , which includes echoes of disco and den haag sounds. on the other side of this 12inch, we will listen first to monologues , a hypnotic-percussive track signed by the renowned french artist in aeternam vale. non auro, sed ferro by hesperius draco closes down the album, fizzing among their usual coordinates: horror disco, retro wave and soundtrack sounds.

red laser is back with a blinder. a set of hardcore manctalo uniting manchester & paris. kid machine returns to the label with a sci-fi chugger done in his unique deep style. tommy walker 3 turns on the lasers and tears down the rave.alan dente from the infamous les yeux orange crew rips classic vocals for some classic sunrise sound tracking. red laser stalwart starion closes the ep on a reflective italo-noir note.
