deletexresonant body is the third studio album by octo octa (maya bouldry-morrison). maya recorded the songs at her cabin in new hampshire in order to channel the resonance of the forest, the beauty of the river, and the energy from the rituals she conducts within it. resonant body is the second release on t4t luv nrg, the label co-run by maya and her partner eris drew. it draws on the same themes of togetherness, embodiment, love, healing and survival that animated her acclaimed for lovers ep (technicolour, 2019).

second release from new york based label/party frendzone. this compilation features two tracks from elusive label stalwart ames henry (with paul kav on a1.) + an experimental tech- breakbeat composition from seasoned drum & bass producer fanu. finished with straight up hardcore junglism from label veteran octo octa.

for naive’s fourth release, we present a tale of “devotion” by octo octa (maya bouldry-morrison) and eris drew.

when octo octa sent us the demos for her first full-length record since 2013, we were floored by how many tracks were single worthy. but, there was one that stood out as something entirely on its own, a song that in many ways sounded like nothing maya had ever released. since the beginning, we always knew we wanted to do something special with adrift, the 8+ minute space-age synth-dub techno tune. when we asked maya about doing a 12inch with remixes we were blindsided to learn she has never had any of her music remixed before. with some remixers in mind, she asked two of her favorites and they said yes. so, here we are to present hny-016 octo octa adrift, remixed by avalon emerson and dorisburg.

o2 returns to argot just behind the release of her 3rd album. pointed at dancefloors while simultaneously speaking to her songwriting capabilities, w/the a being smooth & spacey, & the b at first pensive, before flowering into a floor filler.

love notes (from brooklyn) serves up another winner, this time with the sonic stylings of the illustious (and also brooklyn based) octo octa, whose not unimpressive discography already includes releases on such heavyweight labels such as running back, argot, and deepblak. from the opening, echoed chords and unique percussive qualities of eyes low, through the spaced out funk of touch formation, to the early morning vibes of i feel, this ep delivers on all levels. this is the 9th release on this fine american imprint and they show no signs of slowing down their sonic agenda.

ahead of the release of a full length album by the same title, honey soundsystem records presents 3 breakout tracks on 12- vinyl from octo octa s -where are we going?-. side a features the -new school- breaks pumper -move on (let go) (de-stress mix) and the peak-time synth heavy tear jerker -on your lips.- on the flip we share the 9 and a half minute aquatic house opus -where are we going? pt. 2- “do you feel better?” — is the line maya bouldry-morrison aka octo octa repeats like a mantra on the final track of “where are we going?” her newest and second studio lp. “it was the question every single person asked me after coming out as transgender,” she told us “overall i do, but no, i don’t feel better at every moment, which is why the track slips out with a dour bass drone in addition to a beautiful pad. these days, both emotions are ever-present for me.” it is precisely this candor and intensity that immediately drew us in when maya sent over the lp to consider for the honey soundsystem label. as djs we are always looking for music that can speak in our sets, not just the highest caliber productions, but songs that represent the changing landscape of the queer dance-floor. “where are we going?” reads like a diary. with track titles like “no more pain (promises to a younger self)” and “move on (let go) (de-stress mix)” you can’t avoid the autobiographical messages of these songs, but maya leaves no booty un-shaken - this is still 9 four-to-the-floor house and techno beauties to rock your body. her willingness to even model for the cover art of this lp, proved this is a side to octo octa we ve never seen or heard before, an artist ready to let her fans experience an intimacy as deep as the synths and lead lines she has gained notoriety for. applying her years of international dj’ing, this album flows with intention and has effortlessly found its way back into our headphones and home stereo systems repeatedly - pro-tip: you can even have sex to it. needless to say this is the first time in a decade honey soundsystem has thrown itself at a contemporary lp and we know once you hear it, you will know where we are goin

brooklyn based producer shows off his knack for rich grooves, & melodies that are intoxicating in nature. the drive, & atmosphere are what led deepblak’s aybee to his work, & these ingredients on display as they speak to the head, & the feet.

new to the stay underground it pays gang, the eighth release on the label comes from none other than octo octa! you know him from his prolific run on 100% silk, and more recently for his ep on gerd jansons running back label at the top of the year. the man from brooklyn serves up 4 slices of that u.s. experimental house sound we love so much. on the a side, we have two versions of octo octa’s melancholic title track, requiem for the body. both as good as the other, it’s gonna be split for a lot of listeners on which is better. while both versions share certain elements, the second plays down the long keys of the first versions in favour of some stabby chord patterns. either way, proper 4 a.m. business!on the flip, we get a bit more ethereal with times two (loose version). simple yet effective, this one has a lot of atmosphere with those delayed vocal cuts over that late 80s bassline. closing out the record is when home. this one is a bit of a stomper at first until it brings in the lighter synth elements halfway through. someone, somewhere will have an epiphany listening to this track. if its you reading this, send in the results on the back of a postcard. all in all, another killer release that feels straight at home in the stay underground it pays catalogue

the man like octo octa: best known for his still devastating let me see you cut for 100% silk, the brooklyn producer graces running back with four fine cuts. creating the new, while respecting the old, the more times ep features heavy house (more times), twitchy house (fever dream), dubby house (take me to the dark) and breakbeat house with due respect to ltj bukem (dresses). thats a lot of house for your money. music for clubs and places that would like to be clubs. watch out for octo octa on the back of the brilliant cover.

it is the first single he has released on a label besides 100% silk, the home of his two full-lengths and three eps. this shift is embodied in the tracks, too, as octo octa sharpens his effervescent sound to a harder, more floor-focused edge.

sophistication and elegance have not always been the strobe light honey for die-hard divers into the dance genre, but it has been octo octas strongest suit since his 2011 debut 12 inch on 100% silk, and here again are those initial ideas of identity and hunger for intimacy all leading to an adrift, uneasy feeling, only they have materialized into that instantly recognizable, authentic oo sound.

almaty is a producer and dj from sweden, known for her adventurous and emotive sets throughout the Øresund region and its major cities copenhagen and malmö. influenced by rave experimenters andrea parker and future sound of london, she crafted “gennaro” - her first release ever which comes in a punchy package with remixes by octo octa, photonz and endian.
