for its 23rd release, berlin-based italian label out-er welcomes techno fellows dj spider and phil moffa for v ep .
the collaboration between the italian label and the two techno producers, follows a meeting in nyc between out-er co-founder simone gatto at the producers headquarter gatto always appreciated the artists musical peculiarity and, generally, supports distorted electronic sounds, which anyway already found space on the label’s previous releases thanks to the efforts of the analogue cops, christopher rau and marieu.

after nearly a 17 month layoff the corner returns with 2 killer releases starting off with phil moffas frequency of noise. this features phil at his best showings with his deep driving polyrhythmic percussive beatings while coming at you with melodic textures this release is a well rounded ep for djing and listening pleasure. pressed onto 180 grams vinyl and limited run.

the first bleed release of 2017 welcomes another new artist to the fold. a seriously respected nyc based studio aficionado and close contemporary/collaborator of the bleed-released dj spider, phil moffa is also known for working alongside anthony parasole and seth troxler as well as releasing solo eps on the corner, most excellent unlimited and plan b recordings. the mass action ep features three original peak-time techno tracks, psychohistory, dodecahedron and decimation, with a remix of the latter by label boss volte-face, all primed for peak-time club play.

* after almost 20 years of making tracks with blaringly loud kicks, you tend to start producing with the other elements first to give yourself a break from the constant pounding of monitors at point blank range. following an analog filter shopping spree, i began working on a group of tracks where the low end was satisfied by the filtering, and realized these songs worked just fine without a bass drum. therefore this record is called “rareforms” since most of my other work consists of a kick drum and lots of loud effects. this record is dedicated to the brilliant synthesist and interpreter isao tomita, whose records always provide inspiration in the lab. also to master storyteller rod serling and his frequent collaborator bernard hermann, whose score for the hitchcock film vertigo i adapted through some midi processes and wavetable synthesis, then sent it through a 4-foot spring reverb.* - phil moffa

phil moffa is an accomplished audio engineer who has worked with nile rodgers, seth troxler, anthony parasole, the martinez brothers, kool keith, roc marciano, and many others. we are honored to release his first solo effort for plan b recordings, a quartet of tracks made from the various machines in phils butcha sound studios. from the hypnotic *warm wave* to the berghain-worthy *premonition*, this is modern machine music for dark dance floors.

4-cut ep from new yorks engineer to the stars, phil moffa. his first solo effort arrives in the form of an impeccably produced strain of airy, melody-driven techno that doubles as dance-floor-destroyer. *elevation* comes with a set of bonus beats, and *eno-ugh* is coupled with a live reverb recital recorded in the concert hall at the conservatory of music at purchase college where moffa is a professor of studio production. limited to 400 copies, vinyl only.
