caldera‘s *journey* reveals something unexpected through its driving beat, as shuffling rhythms scuttle around the uncompromisingly tough kick drum, only to be interrupted by organic sample constructions. *valuable* doesn‘t hide behind the opener: pitched-down vocal samples develop through foggy walls of delay. underneath it all, a churning beat grows, captivating the listener. it drifts slowly, always a little behind and stretching endlessly.

der britische veteran, der in den 90er jahre als teil des duos wildplanet auf warp records veröffentlicht hat, eröffnet die ep mit caldera v, einem emotionalen breaky-workout mit einem acid-switch in der mitte. die unvorhersehbaren rhythmen und kontrastierenden melodischen elemente erinnern an die goldenen sheffield-tage.
auf der anderen seite ist skaros ein geradliniger acid-workout mit düsteren obertönen und einem stetigen groove, der den tänzer zu jeder zeit der nacht auf dem boden hält.
