having firmly established himself as one of the most exciting djs and producers currently working in contemporary electronic music, baltra returns to of paradise with his “can’t explain it” ep, a kaleidoscopic and dazzling journey through the heart and soul of raw and hazy house music. “can’t explain it” comes packaged in a paper sleeve complete with special illustrated artwork and sticker.

after the success of the labels first two releases, of paradise welcome baltra into the inner circle for number three, a 2xlp reissue of his no regrets album. originally released in february 2016 as a limited edition cassette on the artists own 96 and forever label, this is the first time any of these tracks have been made available on vinyl. no regrets captures the deep, raw emotion of the big city, taking the preconceived ideas of underground electronic music and lovingly twisting them into something new.

baltra has been plying his trade for a few years now, dealing in a distinctly retro brand of house music that could easily pass for a forgotten chicago cut were it not for subtle touches of advanced production tucked away in the mix. on this single for tape throb, the warbling synth tones of up 2 you sound like a perfect fit for the label, while twist of fate smooths things out a more melancholic mood atop a classic jack beat. feds watching strains under a cloud of grit that adds to the backwards glancing vibe of the record, while dis aura opts for a marginally more modern approach spelt out by the plush polysynth tones that pulse throughout.

baltra embarks on the fourth expedition into the exotic lands of palm trees and blue skies with his ambient pad heavy ‘rendezvous ep’. expedition four features three jams packed full of moody vocals, crunchy drum sequences and face melting acid basslines, accompanied by a mesmerising remix from dj seinfeld.
