Sam McCarthy, Camdens newest and most exciting singer songwriter, stands out from the crowd by staying away from any scene or sound you would expect from his North London home. As you can probably tell from this debut single, Cherrytree - a countryesque ode to young love - Sams songs are classicly written and drawn from many influences other than his contemporaries.
What first started out as a bar job, at the now legendary Hawley Arms, slowly became the place he could regularly showcase his music and he was soon enticed into releasing his first single on their record label Bumpman Records. He joins a roster of critically acclaimed acts such as The Brute Chorus and new signing Rosie Oddie and the Odd Squad. With Rob Skipper (The Holloways) on Guitars /Strings, Laurie (The Barker Band) on Banjos/Mandolins and Tristan Ivemy on production duties, this is the first of many cracking singles to come. As well as being a performer in his own right Sam also stays at the front of the music radar by hosting his own succesfull nights. Fat Sams at the Boogaloo and Hawley Arms presents....where he plays regular sets along with great new acts he wants to champion.
