Villa Nah makes pure electronic pop with plenty of emphasis on catchy melodies and meticulously crafted soundscapes reminiscent of the 1980s. Stylewise, Villa Nah is related to 80s bands like Heaven 17 or New Order, but that is only the tip of the iceberg. Once you ve heard their debut single, you ll know that Villa Nah is about nothing else but their own style and sound. The single opener Ways To Be is built around a synth bassline, handclaps and the kind of irresistible melody that you cant shake out of your head once you ve heard it. Envelope is a tad more dark with an uplifting synth melody serving as a hook. Daytime, in contrast to its title, evokes a strong sense of night time. Villa Nahs vocalist Juho Paalosmaa is a very charismatic performer, whose great sense of stage drama brings to mind a young Glenn Gregory or Philip Oakey. Indeed, Villa Nah is not merely a production duo but an actual band with a live show that is not to be missed.
