This is not a compilation. - This is not a collection of Thisisnotanexit Records biggest releases from our biggest acts. Thisisnotanexit is the most interesting record label in the world today. After three years of fighting this is our first report from the frontline put together with a cassette recorder and a notepad. Our inspiration is East London but we have a global vision. There are operatives working against the recording industry in every corner of the world. Thisisnotanexit works to catalogue and release these missives as and when we feel the situations are right. Thisisnotanexit Manifesto One is a reminder of what music can and should be - this is the soundtrack to your life as it falls in upon itself and the rain keeps on falling. Chapter One contains notes from both existing artists signed on as Thisisnotanexit operatives but also those that are friends and comrades who understand the fight. Some you will know already: the psychedelic, chaotic THEY CAME FROM THE STARS I SAW THEM, Balearic wunderkid HATCHBACK, Optimo’s own ‘Naum Gabo’, the sound of post-punk rewired for the future ‘Detachments’, narco-disco tapping into Berlin via NYC: ‘Night Plane’, horror house analog machine scientists of sound ‘Spectral Empire’ and synth freaks with recordings coming straight from their minds ‘Brain Machine’. Others will be new to you owing to their work conducted undercover: Weird Tapes (aka Memory Tapes under other pseudonym), Parallels (featuring Cameron from Crystal Castles), the king of darkness ‘The Dark Esquire’, the cuddly Panda City Band, Young Monday and the elusive N16 warped disco producer Moscow. Chapter Two contains a selection of strobe light soundtracking basement party jams selected and mixed by thisisnotanexit’s leader Simon A. Carr. These include remixes from Chateau Flight, Prins Thomas, Brennan Green, Mungolian Jetset, Serge Santiago and Joakim.
