Arran was doing a photography course when she joined the band, and at her first rehearsal she brought along a notebook. Written on it was Dark Room Notes. We had gone through numerous terrible names, and felt this was one we could settle on. We were lucky she wasnt doing a knitting course.
Arran was doing a photography course when she joined the band, and at her first rehearsal she brought along a notebook. Written on it was Dark Room Notes. We had gone through numerous terrible names, and felt this was one we could settle on. We were lucky she wasn’t doing a knitting course. ‘We Love You Dark Matter’ was recorded in a live setting as such, keeping over dubs to a minimum. The band spent months in pre-production on the songs before that with Ciaran Bradshaw. The whole approach to ‘We Love You Dark Matter’ was to get as live a sound as possible from an electronicbased band. To this end we set up as live in the studio and recorded all together to capture as much energy as possible for the album. Lyrically we try to create ambiguous images in listeners’ minds – we like to ensure that no-one is ever 100% sure that they have interpreted the song correctly. Musically it changes all the time. Rock still plays a role, but more and more we’re turning to all forms of electronic music, especially the more minimal forms of techno and house. To that end, the album is a representation of elements of Synthesizer and Guitar based Electronica, but hard to put into any bracket. The undeniable catchy hooks will have people humming along in their heads for weeks on end.
