London based club night and freshly formed label Sub Skank kick off with the first of three various artist limited 12 inches, guaranteed to annihilate any bass driven dance floor.
The extended play fires off with Winchester based DJ / Producer Tanka delivering another floor filler ‘Someone tell me’ with his distinct flavour of bass and beats, accompanied by melodic synth flutters backed by chopped and screwed vocal elements.
The second track steps up the pace with D Warrior’s ‘Back Off Shorty’, a minimal bass led track which reels you into an outbreak of hard hitting snares for maximum impact, mutating in and out of 4/4 patterns with a catchy vocal hook for everyone to sing along to.
Pyramid Scheme is a triangulated collaboration between CDNephew, D Warrior and Akito who supply the third rhythm on the release ‘Eight Ball Model’, mounting up the tension with dissonant over-driven chords and echoed atmospherics, drawing on a hybrid of influences far and wide.
The last of the first is a powerful 140 grime influenced take on Pyramid Scheme’s ‘Eight Ball Model’ delivered by Famous Eno on remix duty, reaching for his his deadly clap and snare combinations with rib rattling bass stomps and vocal challenges.
