Mora Music debut the first release for their new vinyl series with a beautifully balanced four track EP that breaths fantastic deepness and effortless originality. Label newcomer Bobby O Donnell is the driving force with two finely engineered cuts for the A-side.
'Traject' providing an energetic rush of shuffling toms, bongos and claps that wrap themselves around the warm playfulness of the bass line and floating juno chords, which are joined by the glassy synth lines to sweeten the track melody.
'Sketching' flies straight into dance floor territory with a driving and dominating bass line that's drenched in softness off the synth pads. Crisp flicks and hits of percussion accompany the kick holding the structure.
Serious heat from Chicago on the B-side arrives in the form of an Amir Alexander remix of Traject. The intelligent chromatic chord structure and devastating bassline work in harmony to toughen up the original without losing the emotion.
Finishing off the EP is 'Moth In Flight' by Mora regular Drummond, the beautiful textures, muted percussion and dubby chords ever so subtly take you in and out of its groove, while a lurking bass line becomes more present as the tracks narrative unfolds.
Indeed something to behold and a perfect way to round off Mora Music's foray into the vinyl world.
