Ever since first appearing on Bristol s Black Acre imprint back in 2009, Kwesi Darko s Blue Daisy project has been hard to pin down. 2011 debut album The Sunday Gift was a triumph of woozy downtempo fusion, with bustling bass music influences rubbing shoulders with folksy elements, ambient, trip-hop and experimental electronica. Following Black Acre s demise, Darko now finds himself on R&S, a label willing to let him follow his unique path. As a result, sophomore album Darker Than Blue is an even more adventurous and enjoyable set than its predecessor, with Darko adding modern classical, beat poetry and hazy jazz influences to his already heady musical brew.
