Following 2014’s ‘XURE’ EP, Dutch producer Doka returns to FORMAT with a fresh four-track release including a remix by fellow techno luminaries TWR72.Carved out of no-nonsense techno grooves, the EP is another prima example of FORMAT’s trademark: bold, stripped-down techno designed for peak-time clubbing moments. The title track blends in classic Detroit synths to powerful Tresor-style grooves, after which TWR72 give it a playfully experimental makeover. ‘Lommer’ throws in a pitch-black cut that’s heavy on the bass while cleverly mixing in progressive house elements, while ‘Dam’ closes things by adding a lovely hypnotic twist to this release’s content.
