Lively disco-fueled house tracks from Matrefakt.
Liverpool’s Matrefakt trio follow ups a big release on their own Attitudes to Life (ATL Records) that had support from Denis Sulta with another expressive and well constructed EP, and proves the guys behind the music have a real understanding of what makes good house music.
Whatever’s Whatever is six minutes of authentic and atmospheric house with swirling disco loops colouring the loose house grooves. Shakers, piano chords and vocal stabs make this a rough edged and brillaint summer house cut. Drip City then picks up the pace with an all out joyous house assault. Busy piano stabs bring old school energy while the perfectly imperfect drums speak of Detroit styled class.
A third and final essential cut is Back When, a driving and deep offering with vocals that bring the soul and synths that slowly get you in a trance as you race along on the ever more steamy vibe.
