A warm welcome back to David Argella, whose last solo vinyl outing came way back in 2007 via a hazy and mind-altering slab of minimalism on Meadowlark. The Transition EP is an altogether different beast to its predecessor, with the London-based Italian opting for a mixture of intergalactic deep house and, in the case of sweaty flipside opener 'Third Floor', trance-inducing, acid-flecked techno. The headline attraction is arguably 'Transition', a squelchy and far-sighted slab of starry deep house rich in sci-fi electronics and warming chords. That's also available in the deep-but-funky, electro-fired 'Floor Mix' form, while closing cut 'The Puppets Are Back' is a fluid, melodious and atmospheric.
