Robin Verheyen presents an adventurous cross-fertilization between baroque, free improvisation and contemporary jazz.
Robin Verheyen is a musical all-rounder. He knows the New York improv scene like the back of his hand, but also drew inspiration from traditional West African rhythms during many trips to Senegal. With his band TaxiWars he again works with rock musician Tom Barman, while Western classical music also fascinates him beyond measure.
Das musikalische Opfer, Bach's textbook example of counterpoint, inspired Robin Verheyen in 2017 to get to dive into Bach's baroque world. It became a search for the essence of music. The result is a double album 'Bach Riddles'. An adventurous cross-fertilization between baroque, free improvisation and contemporary jazz.
