Cavendish Music wurde 1937 gegründet und war ursprünglich als Boosey & Hawkes Recorded Music Library bekannt. Heute ist Cavendish Music der größte unabhängige Library Music Verlag in Großbritannien und vertritt darüber hinaus eine Vielzahl von Musikkatalogen auf der ganzen Welt. Der Einfluss von Library Music auf die britische Popkultur kann gar nicht hoch genug eingeschätzt werden, vor allem in den 1970er Jahren, als die Firmen KPM, De Wolfe und natürlich Boosey & Hawkes die Soundtracks zu kultigen Fernsehserien wie The Sweeney und The Professionals sowie zu einer Reihe von Spielfilmen lieferten.
