Sony Music Entertainment veröffentlicht am 04. August mit Sounds Of The Universe | The 12" Singles ein neues Deluxe-Boxset aus der erfolgreichen Collector’s Edition.
Das Set enthält sieben Maxi-Singles auf Vinyl, die die Songs Wrong, Peace sowie die Doppel-A-Seite Fragile Tension/Hole To Feed featuren. Dazu kommen B-Seiten, Remixes, Dub-Versionen und andere Aufnahmen aus der Zeit, als das zwölfte DM-Album Sounds Of The Universe (Original-VÖ/Mute Records: April 2009) auf den Markt kam.

Sounds Of The Universe | The 12" Singles bietet eine spannende Mischung mitreißender Radio-, Dance- und Dub-Mixes von DM-Originalen. Drei der Scheiben des Boxsets (Discs Two, Four und Seven) wurden für diese Edition neu kompiliert. Dort finden sich Tracks, die im Jahr der Erstveröffentlichung des Longplayers als CDs und Maxis auf den Markt kamen.

Dave Gahan, Martin Gore und Andrew Fletcher sicherten sich für die Aufnahmen zu Sounds Of The Universe zum zweiten Mal die Dienste von Ben Hillier. Dieser war schon beim Vorgängeralbum Playing The Angel als Produzent tätig gewesen und hatte die klanglichen Möglichkeiten der Band neu ausgelotet.
Auch mit Sounds Of The Universe führte die Band die Tradition fort, ergänzend zum Album-Release eine Songauswahl auf spektakulären Maxi-Singles zu veröffentlichen.

Seit den frühen Band-Tagen haben Depeche Mode das 12"-Format für sich entdeckt und die innovativen Möglichkeiten, die es bietet, voll ausgeschöpft. Maxi-Singles waren wie geschaffen dafür, neue Sounds zu erforschen und das Cover bot eine große Fläche für spannende visuelle Experimente. DM-Fans liebten diese Scheiben, denn jede davon wartete mit besonderen Songversionen auf.

When
it came time to record the Sounds Of The Universe
album, DM's classic core (Dave Gahan, Martin Gore, Andrew
Fletcher) returned to the studio to make their second album
with producer Ben Hillier, whose intuitive contributions to
their previous studio album, 2005 's Playing The Angel, had
created new sonic possibilities for the band expanding
Depeche Mode's vision and repertoire while continuing their
tradition of issuing monumental 12 singles
