MULAY goes deep. Where it hurts.
LAVENDER, the debut album by alternative R&B musician MULAY, is a deeply personal project. In twelve artfully intimate songs, she processes an intense, painful experience with toxic love. But LAVENDER is much more than a classic heartbreak album. It is a plea to grow from hurt and disappointment. A beacon in the storm of dark times that tells of healing, self-discovery and empowerment. Strength through vulnerability - that is the mantra of this record.
With LAVENDER, the Berlin-based singer-songwriter, producer and artist continues the path she began with two EPs: ANTRACYTE (2021) and IVORY (2022) complemented each other conceptually to form an interdisciplinary work of art made up of sound, vocals, visuals and performance, in which ambivalent feelings, light and darkness, are thought together. The songs were created between Paris, London and Berlin - together with old (Llucid, Novaa) but above all with new creative partners such as the French producers/multi-instrumentalists Elie Zylberman and Jules Minck. In search of their uncompromising truth, MULAY moves fluidly between innovative songwriting and ambitious productions that open up wide, kaleidoscopic sound spaces full of soulful R&B, hip hop and electronica. MULAY transforms pain and anger into feverishly charged, infectious soundscapes in which downtempo moments and faster, danceable beats flow together like syrup to create an emotional rush.
