vision collector records hit number five in their catalogue with a debut record on the label from fellow dubliner breen. after becoming involved in the ever changing vision collector parties and setting up the newly formed internet station dublin digital radio (ddr), breen delivers a 12” spanning four tracks.

this record definitely takes a bit more of a layered approach - natan h offers us yet another unique, immersive, and charismatic release for acid camp records. acid camp records is rolling through again, this time with an artist known for his atmospheric and cosmic-oriented tracks, natan h. conveying inspiration for this record, just a little nod to extrasensory experiences and perception, is undoubtedly fitting for acrs second release. the opening track, atmosphere, breaks away from 4/4 timing with o-kilter drums that traverse into a heavier beat, pushing the track forward just to bring it right back at the end. followed up with a remix from techno serialist, conforce. through his use of a low pass filter, polyrhythms, and fervor conforce delivers a track nothing short of the prototype for driving techno. remote view pt. i turns out an ambient break and taking the listener to a space of the ethereal and planetary. the ep closes with remote view pt. ii, which incorperates layers of hi-hats, delayed strings, and synths that alternate throughout the arrangement in syncopation.

too many possibilities can also mean a tyranny of the what if.... in this light, celebrating less becomes vital. and thats exactly what swedish producer and studio barnhus affiliate simon haydo does in redux. all of the sounds in the albums nine tracks come from just one synth: the korg ms20. as simon puts it, the idea was to maximize the use of less, basically. less gear, less effects, less input from other people , less everything.using only between 2 and 6 channels for every track, the result is a stripped but surprisingly rich sound, that delineates spatial techno vignettes coated with the unmistakable charac- ter of the ms20 filters. even more interestingly, this restraint is not only applied gear-wise, but also from an emotional point of view. instead of involving my own feelings, i let the voice of the ms20 take care of it, says simon. all this makes redux an expression of techno in its purest form. after all, its a kind of music that has always gravitated around simplicity, austerity and, of course, the believe that the machines have their own soul.

steinzeit concludes the mrt grey series. the duo is comprised of hansruedi schnuriger, one half of echo 106, and bjorn magnusson. they recorded these three tracks in a weekend s time inside magnusson studio, which is an abandoned factory in the middle of nowhere, in switzerland, using bare concrete walls as an echo chamber. the pace is slow, atmosphere is bleak, tone is melancholic, drums are evil. it reflects how switzerland feels in winter. lonely, and this is true, like the name of the tracks.

apparel music return with the introduction of a brand new sub label - apparel tronic. the intention for this new division of sound is to shift focus towards uk-rooted beats, nu-jazz, downtempo and jungle - a collection of styles the label like to term bliss-beat. this treasured and futile basis of influence gives rise to giuseppe dalessandro a.k.a kisk and ludovico schilling schillings new project which they inaugurate with the hella lp from schilling himself: a collection ukindebted dance tracks that meld influences from jungle, breaks and hip hop. originally born in milan - schilling relies on a process he likes to describe as contamination of sound which entails the layering of field recordings and the sounds of his home environment with those of synths, real instruments and samples. this approach brands a clear stamp on his productions and enables him to create a truly singular strand of dance music and its this that glues together the 9 disparate tracks of hella. moving from the cascading breaks of the lps introduction anarcoide to the woozy and textural black lighter - the album begins to build a spectral mood as it progresses. tracks such as flesh is weak and madting draw influence from the golden-era of bristols trip-hop while tracks such as snooker club and viejos delve into more caliginous, idm territory. the result is a rich and varied collection that demonstrates apparel musics unwavering ability to continue to keep listeners guessing.

joining our label for the 4th release are dan andrei and kozo, under their collaboration named ak41, a fructuous project that offers three highly complex tracks.
on the a side you can find “icebreaker” solely, an eccentric sound with a steady bassline, percussive kicks, tripping shakers and a thoughtful, mysterious melody that touches all the frequencies of your body. turning to the b side we find “swingenious”, a groovier interpretation produced by a combination of spacey feelings and sophisticated instruments that will move every bone on the dancefloor. closing the ep is “in memoriam”, a melancholic version that is not short of an aggressive bassline, ambiguous vocals and deep introspects, all aligned to disconnect you from the reality of routine.

a long time ago, at a festival far, far away, the members of the legendary borft trio frak were just going to bed in their tent when something caught their attention. now, this was well before fraks rise to international fame - in fact, this moment was swedish music history in the making, because what they heard was someone playing a frak tune. that someone turned out to be kontra-musiks own ulf eriksson and once their paths had crossed, there was no turning back. frak has since released five highly sought after records on kontra-musik and kontra-musik white label.

matthias puech composes electronic music, designs musical instruments and exlores the nature of computing and mathematics in a single artistic gesture. his music, a collection of contemplative stills of imaginary landscapes, is in major part composed on modular synthesizers and features unique experimental devices that matthias creates. these delicate sonic landscapes draw their inspiration from the physically of natural and animal sounds and form the beauty of mathematical concepts, being a research scientist by day.

this is a vinyl reissue of the first release of stephen bishop’s basic house moniker, originally release as a tape in 2012. through his music, and his label opal tapes, bishop has been one of the most significant definers of leftfield dance music over the past years. his background in diy punk and noise is easily identified in his approach to both sound production, general aesthetics, and overall attitude.

the fourth participant in the gost instrument series is ivan erofeev hailing from siberia’s omsk. ivan was producing and releasing music as aleph for the last five years and this is the first ever record issued under his birth name. the author’s distinctive, monotonus yet liquid sound emerges in these two tracks - deep “h island” and polyrhythmic “sahiba”. framed with field recordings made by the man himself, this two-tracker is a hypnotic and atmospheric journey into ivan’s very own creative universe.

both roberto and his own fossil archive label continue to go from strength to strength. roberto has consistently delivered at dj bookings that have seen him return time and again to the likes of tresor and fabric, while the label has fast become a favourite in dj boxes and amongst techno heads. the label closed 2016 on a high with its first set of remixes from two techno legends, sterac and rolando. and now for the first release of 2017 roberto is thrilled to draft in the refined skills of fachwerk’s roman lindau. roberto has of course released on fachwerk in the past and been featured on the bill on more than one occasion when the berlin label have taken over berghain, so roman is a fitting and very welcome addition to his uk imprint. teaming up for ‘nerinea trinodosa’ on the a-side, roman and roberto’s production styles complement one another perfectly on this solid peak-time offering, bringing a depth and power that continues the fossil archive dedication to raw and unfaltering beats. roberto then goes it alone for ‘triage’ on the b-side, a track which was already featured on alan fitzpatrick’s recent fabric mix cd. with its tough tribal sound and deep bass, there’s some serious funk in the groove, completing another essential release from the fossil archive camp.

black truffle presents people pleaser, the new lp from nantes-based drummer and percussionist will guthrie. initially rising to prominence in australia as a drummer in the fields of jazz and improvised music, guthrie later turned increasingly toward electronics and amplified percussion, developing an idiosyncratic style of electro-acoustic performance characterized by shimmering metallic textures, rapid-fire textural transformations and aggressively high volume. recent years have seen a return to the drum kit in both solo and collaborative work, in performances where guthrie uses duration and endurance to push at the limits of his formidable technical abilities as a player in the free jazz tradition, working variations on short rhythmic units into an endless flow of non-metered pulse.

we continue the orb’s sin in space remix ep series with a third volume focussing on the duo’s latest full-length, the highly acclaimed cow / chill out, world! the label is gradually working through colin’s revered back catalogue of cassette only releases, with previous titles the scythe and two nights selling out instantly. his run of half of a dozen home recorded, diy / minimal synth cassettes between 1980 and 1982 is rightly granted legendary status, influencing a slew of home produced diy experimental electronic artists and all attaining high collectors prices online for original copies. so these lp sets filled out with all manner of unreleased cuts, demos and excluded tracks truly are a treat.

after mathematics, bio rhythm and la beauté du négatif, american artist deviere is back on parisian label unlearn. lobster theremin artist and unlearn affiliate royer is on remix duty. water drums (a1), a deep and spacey cut reminds a joey-anderson-esque imagery for a moody and introspective club experience. strong yet subtle in the low end, this one is for the big sound systems. royer’s demi-monde remix comes up as a more housy interpretation, mixing dubby inspirations with lo-fi aesthetics. reminiscent of kyle hall’s early works on moods and grooves, rising (b1) is an upfront dancefloor track suited for peak time euphoria. speak into existence (b2) is probably the most accessible track of the ep, oscillating between acid-yet-warm feelings and solemn preacher-preachin’ vibes.

vlad dinu opens mihai bravu s 1st release starting the audio journey with deep in my house, a track that occupies the entire a side, just like a proper tool should. as the name of the track hints, we find ourselves submerged in deep territory: a tight and groovy bass line, laced with a steady percussion, sprinkled with some 16bit arcade reminiscent accents and soothing intermingled vocal cuts. the deep vibe is crafty perpetuated by several synths at play, which together combine in such a way to add a wide atmospheric feel to the composition. definitely deep in my house sounds and feels more like of a 90’s tune, and while listening to it, one could easily find himself drift into the nostalgia of the good old days.

raw minimal techno specialist mono junk is back with a selection of new material on his own dum records. having pioneered key techno sounds as far back as 1990, more than 20 years later the influential finnish artist is still on top of his game. up first is halo, nine minutes of edgy techno with a nervy lead synth snaking around in paranoid fashion. rolling drums set a direct groove in motion below and the whole thing will be brilliantly hypnotic on the dance floor. halo 2 is a hallucinogenic bit of ambient with celestial drones and icy synth prickles making for a tense interlude, then musta peili is all fucked up and scuzzy, study and disrupted. sounding like a slowed-down techno track heard though a freezing snow blizzard, it is masterfully textured. farewell closes out the ep with an intergalactic bit of glassy melodic techno that will have you up on your toes.

it was in june of 1980. after a long and intense journey through time and space, rupert marnie met spiritual highness frater loannis and became his apprentice. the magus told him invaluable things, like controlling his precious bodily fluids and the holistic mastery of others’ endocrine glands. the greatest wisdom though reached him on his seventh day, when frater loannis professed him an an-cient ritual that would allow him to meet the titan ufohagen, also known as cdboy. it was the 4th, when he appeared, dressed in a long, slim silk cloak, a sprinkling wand in his right. rupert stood in awe, immediately losing his newly gained fluid control, and started crafting a piece of music, that would remind mankind that not all is lost, as long as there is almighty ufohagen.

repress - unreleased early algerian synth electronic by ahmed malek, compiled and co-produced by flako. in the early 1980s, ahmed malek was already in his 50s, when he discovered synthesizers and electronic music for himself and started to experiment with sounds. the result was a mixture of ambient synth music, field recordings he made in cuba and a wide variation of different sound experiments that he also presented as different avanguarde music festivals in cuba and the us. none of it was ever released but we got a huge box of master tapes from his family and we re happy to present this different side of ahmed malek s music. it was compiled and co-produced by flako, a fan of early electronic and synth music. this is not a remix album though, flako s aim was to create an album out of 2 hours of material that sounds like it might have if mr. malek would have finished it himself before of his death. fully approved and licensed from the artists family. the album comes with an informative booklet with liner notes, an interview with flako regarding his approach towards the production and unseen photos. we will also release a third album by ahmed malek which will be more in the vein again of the music he is known for and this album will also be previously unreleased.

deus records tv baby remix package drops six varying yet cohesive reworking of the new york duo. to shed new light on three of the bands tracks, the label has craftily pieced together an international cast of electronic artists capable of reinterpreting the psychedelic and free jazz influences of the project for the dance floor.

37 kicks off with tó, circular, the percussion resonating in a room, the stabs leading, and the bass pumping. 12 is next, all harmony, promising pastoral harmony, synth clock and mouth moisture clicks. paradela bursts in on the flip side, monumental, synthetic symphony, acidic and bright. jordão is last, rhythmic stutter, the rhythm cuts through, accompanied by a monotone pulse, some lost keys make their way into the mix, it tries to stabilize so it can calmly take you by the hand and lead you home, into the river.
