urbanatribù war ein äußerst interessantes projekt aus alessandria, einer tiefen norditalienischen provinz. die gruppe wurde von dem bassisten flavio gemma und dem cyber-wizard massimiliano bocchio gegründet und interpretierte elektronische musik und tanzmusik auf besondere weise.

gemma gründete einige wichtige italienische wave-gruppen der 80er jahre wie viridanse und c.o.d.e.x. mit einigen späten abstechern in die punk-szene mit peggio punx. bocchio debütierte 1994 auf dem bahnbrechenden imprint minus habens records unter dem namen klange, was den einzigartigen und radikalen sound des labels widerspiegelt. inspiriert von john carpenter-filmen, rauen bässen und britischen geistergeschichten, entstanden urbanatribù-platten gegen jede ordnung.

der erste track der ep ist ein prog-lastiges requiem, durchzogen von verzerrten synthies und einer perkussiven sanftheit, die dazu einlädt, direkt auf die tanzfläche zu gehen. die klangliche agilität von -wandt uncorked- wird von einer treibenden energie umrahmt, die nur noch mehr anschwillt, wenn man sich bewegt und schicht für schicht einen neuen rhythmus bietet. gottesfuß- bietet verträumte synthies mit anklängen an die underworld-Ära von -a hundred days off- und entwickelt sich zu einem ausufernden, sexy-verrückten fünfminütigen glücksgefühl. der zweite track von niklas baut sich mit einem vertrauten vibrato und einem gemütlichen bass auf und ist die perfekte kulisse für dancefloor-momente und verliebte feierabende. die b-seite der aktuellen ep von wandt gleitet durch alle nur denkbaren subaquatischen gefilde. geschmeidige breaks gehen gleichmäßig in unzählige unterwasser-drones und/oder außerirdische schreie über und bilden eine raffinierte klanglandschaft, die wandts fähigkeiten als perkussionist unterstreicht.

rpg ist komplett mit einer hand komponiert. obwohl er sich den anderen arm gebrochen hatte und nicht mehr in der lage war, seine synthesizer zu spielen, gab wijnands nicht auf und schuf die ep, die seine entschlossenheit und leidenschaft für die musik unter beweis stellt.
