parrish smith makes his dekmantel debut on the labels sister-techno imprint, ufo, with a blend of avant garde electronics and industrial. with the sex, suicide & speed metal ep , dutch producer parrish smith works outside of the realm of genres and tempos, creating his own unique template of saturated, electronic post-punk, having won accolades from the likes of nina kraviz, and ron morelli along the way. an analogue purist at heart, parrish smith has already amassed a cult following with regular appearances on red light radio, in which the anarcho-experimentalist broadcasts sessions of heavy industrialism, breakbeats and body music.

parrish smith has quietly been making a name for himself over these last years with releases on knekelhuis and contort yourself as well as with his projects volition immanent and sige bythos. we see him appear on l.i.e.s. in a strong fashion through four varied dense tracks. from slowbeat ebm to belgium klang to classic den hague crushers this ep forges its own path taking these cues and putting smith s unqiue spin on them. heavy yet still possessing groove and hypnotic rhythm, damage will ensue if used correctly. fresh stuff from this up and coming talent.

(pronounced trip) label with a double-ep compilation entitled the deviant octopus, featuring a pair of brand new productions from kraviz alongside material from terrence dixon, emerging talent parrish smith & bjarki, and veteran producers exos & steve stoll.

parrish smith s debut of dystopic forbidding sets the tone of this label s impressive first release with a superb stark, acid ridden slab of body music. helena hauff adds to the proceedings with her remix of pankows >das vodkalied< taking no prisoners and using heavy percussion in contrast to a wonderfully tense set of arpeggiations, which all descend into skull crushing pressure. carrying over to the flip side are pankow, pioneers of the italian industrial/ebm scene, with two tracks from their legendary first tape -throw out rite- from 1983. with das vodkalied disembodied vocals are cut up and come from every direction driven by a raw, off-kilter energy and pounding beat. i m food for you cranks up the drive and anxiety to create a killer track based around stark arpeggiation. last of all, perseus traxx provides an acidic stripped down venting of frustrations which he spits out with vehemence.

how much do you really know about nina kraviz? shes a russian techno dj, an accomplished producer, one of dance musicÕs breakthrough names of the last five years. true enough, but theres so much more to her story than that. shes one of electronic musics most interesting characters, someone who has stuck to her musical guns since day one, someone who has wide-ranging roots that run deep in the past, yet shes also the embodiment of the future. her signature sound is a raw blend of house and techno with a very acidic feel. if that feels very now, kraviz has a lot to do with it, which is why she was asked to mix the latest instalment of !k7Õs landmark Ôdj kicksÕ series.
