eye is back. metamujer marks the third installment on the knekelhuis label and we’re extremely happy to release this document of another chapter in laurène exposito’s life. recorded on various locations ranging from the swiss mountains to the chalky coasts of brittany, metamujer is an 8-track ode to salty love and closeness to nature, a tribute to a modest lifestyle à la henry david thoreau. far from being praise for self-sufficiency, this new lp is deeply influenced by laurène’s environment. we can hear korg ms-10 created synthetic waves (sanatorium) and birds (luscinia), but one can also catch her singing in italian, one of 3 languages spoken in switzerland. still minimalist and yet more aesthetically diverse, her new sounds are on the edge of ebm and synth pop, between classic minimal wave tunes and rustic ballads on acid.

meo, pseudonym of daniele mei, is a cosmic dj from rimini, italy. fine corsa was his first record, released in 1985. in those days meo was active in what was later considered to be the most famous afro dance club in italy: melody mecca. this release is an intensely creative hybrid of many styles and many colors. even up until the present day this record continues to be very important in some preeminent european clubs

brussels, monday 1 am. capital of a united europe, its inhabitants separated by cultural spheres along lingual lines. yet, in the back of a dimly lit pub they encounter one another surrounded by nocturnal buzz and the smell of skimpy beer. the night is a place where poets, authors and musicians dwell, in an attempt to leave everyday reality behind in favor of a universal nowhere in particular.

after last years excellent discoveries from volume 1, another batch of lost and unreleased dutch (cassette) material is coming back to the future. for this sequel we dug deep into the dutch lowlands and again found some independent music thats still relevant today. in the process we met even more amazing musicians and heard great stories from a distant-not-so-distant past. expect a wide palette of diy and experimental sounds by artists from groningen, zwolle, arnhem, the hague, rotterdam, tilburg and deurne. volume 2 will also feature a beautifully designed inlay with liner notes in dutch and english. mastered by wouter brandenburg, designed by steele bonus and compiled by mark van de maat.

patricia koketts sound is shrouded in a veil of mysticism. the brainchild of lithuanian gediminas jakubka, diabel’s metallic heartbeat underlies a magical superstructure that evokes some kind of dmt infused trip. or possibly even some kind of ancient ritual, where one is intoxicated by serpents blood. guided by repetitive drum patterns, it creates a slow joint dance that opens the path towards transcendence.

coming from different regions in france, violent quand on aime’s members have joined forces to canalize their energies into something truly essential. far away from hype and expectation they have created their own peculiar world. expect a certain electronic griminess with hints of 90’s hiphop, postpunk alienation and an affinity for musique concrète. the overall experience is similar to the excitement one feels when hearing something genuinely original. this mini-album is the follow-up to their very impressive 7” on le syndicat des scorpions.

job sifre is one of the guys bringing new blood into the amsterdam scene. this is the follow-up to his recently released debut on the new artifical space label, where he continues his path of solid ebm fueled electronix. the record ends with the gorgeous at least we try, showing of his more tripping, rhythmic side. beautiful complementary artwork by stefan unkovic.

new york city based further reductions is the live project from husband and wife shawn (aka vapauteen, 400ppm, let er est) and katie o sullivan (aka rose e kross, ppg). back in 2014 they released their gorgeous debut album on cititrax records. the album was an adventurous trip, where they pushed forward a unique sound. after all those years there will be a follow up to this ep on knekelhuis. expect a fusion of different sounds, grimy and pretty at the same time.

featuring a wide range of artists (das ding, plus instruments, de fabriek for a start!) from the amsterdam fetisj scene and cities such as rotterdam, utrecht, the hague, and zwolle. it gives a glimpse into the artistic diy music movement that was growing extensively outside of mainstream circles.the beautifully printed record sleeve was designed by steele bonus. it includes liner notes (in english and dutch) that paint a great picture of the context where these bands and artists lived and breathed. it is compiled by mark van de maat and mastered by rude 66.

verloren’ is like a late night pink dutch sky after a long day of heavy rain, a sign that a warm summer’s day is just ahead. it will make you sweat tonight. this long awaited follow up 7-, will be released in the same form as the first: a beautifully designed disco sleeve with cardboard artwork. the vinyl will feature perfect-not-perfect, melancholic yet very danceable tracks. the machines in here take you back to the 80’s, but sound very contemporary nevertheless.

archive tracks from this much revered new jersey duo. we assume both the originals were recorded in the mid 80s. nieuwegein’s most warped mind parrish smith, on remix duty..tip! -smersh was the project of mike mangino and chris shepard. together they recorded more than 30 albums throughout the 80’s and early 90’s. their vision: rehearsal at monday night, record their improvisations, no live performances, only albums.

as longitude is the illuminated brainchild of eva geist and laura odl. together they explore sonic waves in an exciting world full of spatial drum machine rhythms and sequenced riffs. some of those trips feel like earth bound rituals, while others seem to be nothing less than ceremonies of stratospheric magnitude.

in a world where everything is relative, this may well be the final nail in the truth s coffin. from the past to the present and the present to the past, of stories forgotten and to be told. murray, labelboss from the great contort yourself label, created a library full of edited (un)forgotten cassette material from the first part of the 80 s. this compilation features die form, fan tan, nocturnal emissions, agem, beats per minute and parazite: tracks to take you back to the future on the modern day dancefloor.

for our next chapter, there is parrish smith. in his wicked game of creation and demolishment he s working on combining organic and mental material which brings him to his first full-length ep. his melted personal stories convey through rough mechanics and exuberant expressionism. this tells the story of fulfilment, development and setbacks. mixing up illusional layers of metal drums with harsh and rough moving synthesis. polyrhythmical electroniczzz for the mind.
