frigio consistently plumb the depths of electronics to find new material, and this time the madrid imprint has unearthed, in the murky currents, a real gem. tecwaa is the solo project of york based producer paul fawcett, a musician who discovered his sound in the british warehouse parties of the early nineties and went on to nurture it with movie scores, detroit techno and homegrown electronica. his debut brings together three pieces of original machine music alongside a very special remix. the menacing -the eighth circuit- broods into being. looming synthwork is further darkened by distant vocals, house percussion keeping time in this sinister opener. -mantra & machine- has similar attributes. adopting clean rhythms, the track refuses to sit comfortably in any genre pigeonhole as tecwaa weaves a work of cerebral depth. charles manier introduces the flip with his take on -fervour-, tadd mullinix returning to frigio for the first time since his superb remix as jtc of juanpablo s -dream- in 2010. a funk laden work of hip hop breaks and industrial distortion where manier explores blackened moods and horrorshow grooves. the original of -fervour- closes, showing another side of fawcett s style, bpms drop as foundations are laid bare in this stark conclusion.

cw/a are producers thomas feriero and francesco leali, known for their releases and remixes on parachute, r&s, decca and vakant, their work as avatism, clockwork, opus 3000 and house ov leaves, crushing live shows around the globe and running parachute alongside dj tennis since 2013. with ringleader the duo return with their first original productions since their debut full length, last years critically acclaimed words unspoken, acts undone. inspired by global trends towards orwellian mass surveillance and cyber espionage, ringleader aims to be an audible interpretation of big data, ubiquitous connections and the acceptance of corporate and government spying. grim and mechanical by nature, the six tracks — named after leaked codenames of government tools used to watch on citizens — work as a soundtrack to the destruction of privacy: a cold reflection on this aspect of society and its implications.

after their debut on vakant we present you cw/as next offering, day of riddance. feeling right at home on parachute with its lack of genre-defining ties, the record features 3 road-tested live extracts alongside remixes from stroboscopic artefacts head honcho lucy and ilian tape boss dario zenker. cw/a is the live project from long-time friends and studio partners thomas (avatism) and francesco (clockwork) originally a live amalgamation of their solo material, it eventually evolved into a broader, more dynamic improvisa- tion-centric performance focused on experimenting around the outskirts of techno, jungle and electronica. we hope this release gives you an insight on both our vision and cw/as: a barrier-trashing wall of sound that goes from live settings into the studio and back.

bm/cc/cws spectrum debuts the collaborative works of three new york gs: brendon moeller, clay wilson and oliver chapoy aka certain creatures. inspired by each others live performances at an industry of the machines party in may 14, brendon, clay and oliver re-convened for an impromptu recording session a week later. spectrum culls three serpentine heavy-weights from that session. each track warps modular meltdowns into aerobic feats of primed dj mayhem, mixing the visceral with the psychedelic for a twisted take on techno. *spectrum 1* peels queasy melodies off charburned, disintegrating toms that disappear into the howling vortex of *spectrum 2*. the third and final (for now) *spectrum* emission channels the most harrowing moments of the trios live performances - a deliberate, free-form exploration of technos widest fringes and wildest possibilities.

cws (pronounced classicworks) is the new brainchild of cardopusher and nehuen, and their debut release for barcelona imprint struments records presenting their first explosive statement as a formulated duo.

craig mcwhinney continues to deliever some outstanding techno cuts on romanian label snejl black . after appearing alongside echologist and american duo cv313 on haul music, as well as remixing for the dub techno heavyweight brendon moeller, craig proves once again that australia is breeding some of the best upcoming acts.

the first release on project squared in a year, *make your mess* is a three track ep by melbournes craig mcwhinney. craig has been making music for years and releasing since the late 2000s on melbourne labels such as pinksilver, melbourne deepcast and his own haul music, also on labels based further afield such as brendon moellers steadfast and speedy js electric deluxe. craigs music is techno, but it isnt preoccupied with the 4/4, employing broken, swung and rolling drum patterns. his tracks often include melodic and harmonic elements and effects reminiscent of dub techno but without conforming to the pastiche template of the sub-genre. the make your mess ep is composed of the core title track and two additional tracks that arose as interpretations and variations on the initial production: *provocation is an excuse* is more furious and loud, *disengage* is more restrained. all three are around 125 bpm and were produced in the space of a month between september and october 2012.

craig mcwhinney is a melbourne based dj, producer and live artist. beginning his techno explorations behind the decks in 2000, his transition to the studio has been swift and fruitful. a string of releases on his own label haul music which he co-founded in 2008 with friends mike callander and christian vance, are now being backed up with remixes and eps for speedy js electric deluxe, and brendon moellers steadfast records. drawing upon his wealth of djing experience, he crosses the boundaries of dub infused techno and house with precision and intent, blurring the line between dance floor dynamics, home listening, experimentation and sound design. he is also collaborating with mike callander as haul music live, fusing craigs rhythms with mikes soundscapes to create unique dance floor interpretations of their individual sound experimentations. wild coast is a low-slung filthy minimal romp that possesses as much primal energy as it does futuristic funk. bassbins and heads are likely to be blown by this demented puppy. echologist keeps things lofi, hypnotic and subby.
