these 4 tracks are the result of jam sessions in speedy js rotterdam studio in may 2012. inspired by their love of krautrock and techno, these tracks possess a spaced out psychedelic and experimental vibe but also maintain grooves that will adequately keep a dancefloor throbbing. music to immerse oneself in. enjoy!

steadfast presents a new series: one bubble, four composers from various corners oft he bubble, four unique visions of contemporary techno aimed squarely at the dancefloor. combined, these producers have had releases on the following great labels: electric deluxe, ostgut ton, third ear, mule, re(form), knotweed, m_rec, eclipse music and plak, to mention but few.

craig mcwhinney is a melbourne based dj, producer and live artist. beginning his techno explorations behind the decks in 2000, his transition to the studio has been swift and fruitful. a string of releases on his own label haul music which he co-founded in 2008 with friends mike callander and christian vance, are now being backed up with remixes and eps for speedy js electric deluxe, and brendon moellers steadfast records. drawing upon his wealth of djing experience, he crosses the boundaries of dub infused techno and house with precision and intent, blurring the line between dance floor dynamics, home listening, experimentation and sound design. he is also collaborating with mike callander as haul music live, fusing craigs rhythms with mikes soundscapes to create unique dance floor interpretations of their individual sound experimentations. wild coast is a low-slung filthy minimal romp that possesses as much primal energy as it does futuristic funk. bassbins and heads are likely to be blown by this demented puppy. echologist keeps things lofi, hypnotic and subby.

imugem orihasam is one of japans most exciting and driven electronic music composers. with a slew of releases on the likes of ilian tape, sistrum and new kanada, to name but a few, he is clearly a man on a mission. he started out making hip hop beats in 1997 but by 2000 exposure to jeff mills by a close friend ignited a fire that burns deep and blue. upon listening to these four tracks two things becomes clear, imugems unique vision as well as his immaculate sound design and production sensibility. the tracks are deep but propulsive, futuristic yet filled with emotion. dive in.

roberto clementi hails from a small town on italys east coast somewhere between riccione and rome. he is much more of an inventive sound designer as opposed to an average music producer. his tunes range from deep and lush to uplifting and party-pumping - often fueled by minimal subby basslines, retro-ish melodic elements, elegantly cut-up vocals, and an overall warm, analog feel. he currently has releases and remixes on labels like unfoundsound, monique musique, distric raw, undercut, stolen moments, manual music, kompass musik, suara, greel pound, sk supreme, and others. he is also one-half of i-rob alongside roby dj, and they have releases on labels like autist, tenax recordings, clasque musique, and others. his debut ep for steadfast features 3 techno trax ranging in mood and atmosphere but all sharing a perfect dancefloor sensibility and top-notch production. brendon moellers reshape aint half bad either.

for steadfast s thirteenth release we have 3 smoking tracks of deep chunky techno from a collaborative project featuring john daly and the mystery man known as 19.454.18.5.25.5.18. each version guarantee to work the floor.

with vocal and consistent support from marcel dettmann, ben klock, and levon vincent, among many others, furesshu finds himself in the company of technos best and brightest - where his uniquely staggered and lurching brand of techno belongs, blurring and obscuring the lines of geography and scene. downstate is a hypnotic slice of big room techno thats bound to solidifyl this mans vision. on side b brendon moeller remixes under his echologist guise and adds a funked-out twisted acidic psychedelia to the affair.

chicago-based area has been seriously on the rise in 2010, with 12inches and remixes recently out on francois ks wave music, echospace, mathematics, matrix records detroit, anton zap s new ethereal sound, and a dubby collaboration with brendon moeller under the lightness guise.

after the success of >slow burn< as well as the licensing of >dirt< to mr. ben klocks berghain mix compilation, echologist returns with another slice of psychedelic dub techno with remixes by frances techno king terence fixmer and arguably moscows finest producer, anton zap. the original mix is a slowly builds into a blaze of cavernous chord changes and a 4/4 groove powered by an unelenting sub bass. the distinctive sound of this track is what seperates echologist from all the other dub techno composers out there. terence fixmer takes the elements and transforms them into his signature techno workout that packs as much punch as it does finesse while anton zap strips things down and builds a super spacious hypnotic house groove that has become a trademark of his ethereal sound. all round another essential release from echologist.

area, was born in canada but has spent most of his musical career in chicago, where he thrived in the underground scene playing with the likes of ellen allien, superpitcher and kevin saunderson at smart bar, one of the best and oldest venues for electronic music in chicago. remixing frequently, he also hosts a weekly radio show on wnur (89.3 fm) on friday nights in chicago.

the original mix of >slow burn< is a lush slice of ambient techno that immediately sucks you into its subby atmospheric realm and gently lulls you into a netherworld where chords and pads playfully bounceoff one another. the neverending bass arpeggio beneath will gently wobble you into submission.
the b-side features a steller remix from londons rising techno/dubstep talent sigha. his trademark psychedelic techno leanings shine through as he delivers just over 8 minutes of dub techno that is destined to hypnotise dancefloors worldwide.

from the chunky dub tech funk of runner to the lush, beautifully orchestrated hole and fach, billys attention to detail as well as his instincts as a dj are clearly apparent.

manaboo is a duo made up of brendon moeller and shigeru tanabu. these two friends first met in ny in 2003 and began jamming on music. shigerus guitar antics can be heard on many a beat pharmacy track. it is their mutual love of jazz, dub and techno that is the insiration for this ep.

with five beat pharmacy albums and almost a dozen vinyl releases on francois ks deep space imprint, this dubby and eclectic project of brendon moeller needs no introduction.
chugging along at 120bpm, underpinned by a thick sub-dub bassline and a modulating maurizio-style synth cord arpeggio, pump is a hypnotic slap of deep smoky house with some memorable hooks to boot. swirling rhodes keyboards and a slick piano riff serve as a lovely counterpoint to the swinging funk of the hi-hat groove. forever morphing and evolving, the stready and unrelenting groove are guaranteed to keep heads bobbing and toes tapping!
the first remix here is by echospace head honcho, stephen hitchell under his intrusion guise. stripping away and re-contextualizing the key elements in the track, hitchell crafts a warehouse-style dj-tool that subtlely weaves its way into ones subconscious via a delightful psychedelic keyboard hook.
londons bearweasel takes a similar approach, except with a much more pronounced beat track superbly trippy atmosphere. a top notch dj tool thats likely to be spun worldwide.
all round a quality release with enough sensibility and character to be played for years to come.
