From the chunky dub tech funk of runner to the lush, beautifully orchestrated Hole and Fach, Billys attention to detail as well as his instincts as a DJ are clearly apparent.
Brooklyn resident Billy Shane began listening to house music back in 1988 while skateboarding around New York CIty and New Jersey. It was the sound of Bobby Konders, Frankie Knuckles, and the early acid tracks coming out of Chicago that really excited him. Several hundred nights and raves later, Billy started buying records and eventually landed a residency at one of the newly equipped DJ lounges that had started popping up in Manhattan's East Village. Within weeks he was picked to play in the upstairs house room at Plush's Jungle Nation - New York's biggest Drum and Bass party at the time. Around 2001 he attended sound design classes and a few years later decided it time to produce his own material. His first release on Tronicsole received acolades from Dubfire, Jimpster, Funk D Void and many others. While that release is rooted in house, this one is rooted in raw techno! From the chunky dub tech funk of runner to the lush, beautifully orchestrated Hole and Fach, Billy's attention to detail as well as his instincts as a DJ are clearly apparent. With a big thumbs up from Ben Klock already, this release should put Mr. Billy Shane firmly on the map! Steadfast owner Brendon Moeller offers up a solid rework of runner under his Echologist guise.
