after an excursion in initiating their new subsidiary city fly records ltd to release new, interesting projects - in which they presented a super exclusive in the form of a beautifully packaged limited edition clear 10 inch by uglyink aka drum machine deviants and aural aestheticians ugly drums and inkswel - city fly are back in familiar territory with some house flavour on the hallowed 12 inch format.

after a hiatus in 2017, city fly records return with a superb ep from label co-owner & serious sample digger, the last trip to gandahar. with previous sell out releases on better listen, kolour ltd and his sublime disco infused nugget r136a1 also on city fly. gandy’s releases have gained support from the likes of giorgio moroder, larry heard and bbc radio 6music. the ep brings an abundance of dancefloor dynamite which includes a collaboration with the ever talented erik rico, who has previously worked alongside artists as diverse as ron trent, dj spinna, q-tip and hip hop monarch tupac shakur. man of the moment byron the aquarius also steps up with a beautifully deep remix of higher! in a full ‘body & soul’ style.

city fly are very excited to present their latest 12 inch, this time coming from long time friend of the label and all round powerhouse kez ym. the leicester label have long been representing for the east midlands underground house scene, bringing local talent to the world and bringing global connections to their locale. hot off the back of their 10th release celebration va and a strong offering from legend tim toh, the japanese connoisseur kez ym is back with more of the goodness that has made him a favourite of the label from such an early stage.
the ep drips with kezs trademark blend of deepness, kicking off with the heads down groover of *bump into the sky*. next up *eagle eye* builds around crisp 909 drums and a super tight bass line. pure classic vibes from start to finish. over on the flip *my joy* is underpinned by deep, jazzy chords and finishing off we have *spiral traffic* which takes things to a new tip entirely with an almost latin feel to the chord patterns.

marking its 11th release, leicester-based label city fly welcome philpot regular tim toh to its already impressive roster spanning dj nature, fred p, andres, medlar and basic soul unit. the berlin artist is also renowned for his works on the likes of ornaments music, delusions of grandeur and mild pitch, and his idiosyncratic vision of electronic music is one shared with the discerning minds behind city fly. ‘endlessly’ is a track that melds interlinking rhythms with vocal snippets before easing in to a beautiful rhodes sequence containing all the hallmarks of an absolute floor filler. ‘everything’ then features the beautiful vocals of ranavalona to engineer a track dripping with pure soul, making way for a remix from thatmanmonkz that focuses on rhythm whilst boiling the piece down to a slice of timeless house. finally ‘expectations’ is a number exhibiting toh’s avant-garde approach to music production whilst still focusing squarely on the dancefloor.

hailing from japan, kazuki yamaguchi aka kez ym has already produced a distinguished discography since debuting on rotterdam label 4 lux five years ago with his sweetly confused ep. he has subsequently released tracks on yore (the acclaimed city soul and butterfly eps), deep explorer, ragrange records and faces (run by city flys frequent collaborator pablo valentino) - with his soul infused detroit beatdown-inspired productions receiving support from influential peers such as moodymann, theo parrish, rick wade and cassy.

after the success of their debut 12inch – the visions ep featuring james johnston, yse, tone control and basic soul unit – with support coming from the full house spectrum (including alex agore, brawther, danny tenaglia, deetron, ethyl, groove armada, red rackem and many more), its only natural city fly follow up their 1st release with a new ep to further showcase the deeper house sounds synonymous with their ethos. wanting to expand their vision yet stay true to their roots, for their 2nd release city fly are proud to present the ‘csa ep’ by creative swing alliance aka pablo valentino & steven wobblejay. not content in running faces records – featuring releases from simbad and danilo plessows motor city drum ensemble/inverse cinematics aliases – and releasing 12s under his creative swing alliance, kid swing and hipster wonkaz pseudonyms, pablo also co-runs the already iconic and buy-on-sight mcde imprint with danilo plessow and is an influential component in the label gaining notoriety and cult status with its raw cuts series – ubiquitous in many a djs set regardless of genre. steven has released records on compost records, soultronik & jazzmin under his moniker steppah huntah and played double bass for the japanese jazz band sleepwalker.
