teste’s -the wipe- should need no introduction to those well versed in techno history. first appearing on richie hawtin’s seminal probe label in 1992, -the wipe- and it’s associated mixes literally took dancefloors by storm. 22 years later, and edit select summons this classic once again for an impeccable remix that maintains the force of the original while adding a decidedly contemporary touch. on the flip, teste return after 21 year hiatus to team up with edit select himself for the immaculate -ascend-.

glaswegian techno stalwart edit select presents the thirtieth effort in his edit select records series. “aftereffekts” is a 4 track release that opens with the thumping “the visitor”, this track combines puzzling percussive movements with otherwordly pads which subtly build to a hypnotic climax.
“fallen” is a broad sounding cut with an almost orchestral touch to it. the uncanny drum patterns and repetative fx make for a solid voyage. “aftereffect” is a percussion laden cut with soul touching strings that float throughout. “you” is a melancholic piece of art that incorporates heavenly pads with beautifully orchestrated rhodes sounds and a hypnotic drumtrack.

edit-select reach their 10th release, and to celebrate they have chosen possibly the biggest track from the previous 9 releases. gary becks consumed. this monster of a track (which featured on richie hawtins sounds from can elles dj magazine mix), has been remixed by mark broom, and dutch techno legend speedy j. brooms bang bang mix is typical of his dark techno sound which of course fits perfectly on edit select, and speedy j cranks the intensity up a notch, with his repetitive groove that just sounds immense on a big system (when of course played on vinyl). there you have it. the labels biggest release to date, and by far the most limited

edit select number six sees the vinyl release of >on the run< by gary beck. originally released digitally by mezzotinto, its garys biggest track to date, featuring in the sets of richie hawtin, sven vath and adam beyer heavily over the last couple of years. the track has been completely re-mastered for 2009 and sounds just amazing. on the flip we have a tougher and more aggressive edit select update of the haunting original. the remix has received props from the likes of len faki, ben klock, marcel dettmann, and slam over the recent months. another sure shot for edit select.
