the new leena welcomes an artist who rise through the ranks of the dj elite has been swift, purposeful and striking. starting out as a promoter and label manager, nicole moudaber booked huge acts for her soundworx nights at londons legendary turnmills club alongside running southeast recordings, but it wasnt long before she started to produce herself. flawlessly carving out her very own edgy house and tough, soulful techno sound, her music was instantly picked up by the worlds leading tastemakers including carl cox, john digweed and pete tong. a residency in ibiza playing alongside carl cox at his weekly night followed, as well as requests for guest mixes on both his and john digweeds internationally syndicated radio shows. her releases have received just as much praise as her dj performances.

the new leena welcomes a very new guest to the mobilee family - belgian born jona - who having been discovered by get physical in 2005 has since had a series of strong releases on labels such as supplement facts, planet e and resopal. a born musician, jona originally studied the guitar and was heavily influenced by blues and jazz music, until he fell in love with electronic music and graduated from the school of audio engineering. his wealth of musical training has supported his desire to continually explore new sound perspectives and forge is own and unique sound signature, something not so common in the electronic music world of today. >this time< is a three track strong ep that takes brings together a variety of musical themes. whilst >drifting away< and title track >this time< both have grooving bass lines perfect to shake up the dance floor, >resonate< has layers of drifting synths creating more of a dreamy summers day atmosphere. a debut release from an artist we hope to be seeing a lot more of in the future….enjoy

leena017 witnesses dapayk solo in full bloom and with space to breathe. a-side >berlin bedlam< builds up layers upon layers of synths, paving the way for a break out of melodic charms that arrive. its a cinematic sound scape that could be played at any number of stages over the course of the night. b-side >fawlty< is equally as melodic, but certainly fulfills the role of the calm after the storm. minimal, but with musical flare, its the perfect companion

coming from the heart of bosnia, solomun is a passionate dj who certainly knows how to please a crowd and keep the energy on the floor. equally as talented and creative in the studio, he has many releases to his name on his own label diynamic, as well as other imprints such as four:twenty, liebe*detail and dessous recordings. made for the dancefloor, his productions always have an element of funk or surprise, reminding people of the fun thats there to be had with music. as a label with many close ties to mobilee records, diynamic will be co-hosting a party at mobilees sonar 2010 celebrations, which makes it even more fitting that this release brings the two forces more closely together. solomuns next big bang, being brought to you via leena music, is a sure extension of his impeccable production skills and style, and is also one of the most unique releases you will here on the label so far. a-side >sisi< opens with a head-spinning explosion of notes and chords, being fired out like sparks in a continual loop. then half way through the record, they dramatically stop, only to soon build up again and set the roller coaster off once more. b-side >talk to the hand< is a bass-heavy and punchy track, that surprises you with euphoric piano chords in the second half, whilst b2 >curesto< brings all of the elements together with piano chords, build-ups and some drama. enjoy!

many people know antoine garcin for the two very successful labels he runs, time has changed and time is now, but you would be wrong in thinking these was the only arrows to his bow. in fact he has many and being a talented producer is one of them, as richie hawtin recognised when he praised him as the best breakthrough producer of 2009!

hailing from montpellier, rodriguez jr. makes his return to leena with “kids of hula,” bringing the coastal sounds of his hometown along with him. after the success of “rubbo swingo”, his first release on leena, rodriguez jr.—who also comprises half of f communications’ the youngsters—went on to release records for boxer recordings and mothership. on leena’s 11th release, he has returned for a second round, once again displaying his softer side as a housey, psychedelic producer. “kids of hula“ begins on a strongly melodic note with airy, exotic chords leading the way and occasional accents of tropical percussion lining the backdrop. old-school throwbacks also have their place here, as the track climaxes with the use of psychedelic vintage sounds that recall the work of space disco giant lindstrom until they ultimately fuse together with the track’s initial harmonies to create a complex and layered final product. the b-side “pandora” begins with a more stuttered beat and a warbled, static-laced environment. the track reaches its high point with psychedelic sounds comparable to those heard on the a-side that possess a more hypnotic, melodic, and spacey twist. digital exclusive “offshore” fills its landscape with fragments of vocals and high pitched bleeps, blurps, squeals that alternate in time with one another until vintage synthesizers enter the picture. as the track progresses, the old-school synthesizer sounds and vocal snippets unite and begin to work together in unison, by the time the track reaches its peak, the vintage synths have taken on a completely new sound and direction, guiding the pulse of the track until its ending.

played by karotte!!! his first release on leena music and old pal, falko brocksieper, jumps straight into the game, spinning heads into you-know-what with his new ep, >oblivion<. these two segments display brocksiepers attention to detail and clean cuts. its classical meets modernistic. >oblivion< is smooth in its nature adding a few tweaks, keys, plus a thumping baseline here and thereû mostly keeping it simple and real. a delightful treat for your feet. its b-side, >chemtrails<, is a melodic tool taking the baseline down a notch and pulling keys in and out of the background as subtle symbols and perfectly cut vocals weave in and out sounds of an evening dust. the digital bonus >breezer< will blow you away into an unknown world of modern electronica with hidden tweaks and minimal influence. former cologne scenemeister, falko brocksiepers leading edge producing skills have landed him recent releases on turning spork, treibstoff and, not to mention, his own thriving imprint, sub-static. the latest of his renderings, >heavy day<, came out after a long five years from his debut album release sweeping the club scene of its feet. of course its no secret that brocksiepers specialty is mixing his time capsuled goods into his new work

french artist, lee van dowski of num and cadenza lowers eyes and draws lips to partial smirks with his charming and witty release. „the variable man,“ based on the title of a science fiction story series from the 50’s, is brilliantly transmitted through a tunnel of sound engineering and audio design by lee van dowski. lee’s electronic rendering of „the variable man,“ distinguishes several dominant male voices accumulating a rhythmic momentum to the peak of the track, a peak where an orgasmic flow just stops short of the central explosion, fundamentally, fading the instrumentals before revamping again. the b-side of the track, „thomas coles lives,“ co-produced by agnès, comes alive with a fascinating mix of symbols and keyboards. „the variable man“ is lee’s second release on leena music, after his first 12“, „louder elvis,“ in collaboration with agnès appeared on leena in 2008. both tracks express very minimalistic tones yet are characterized by rather divergent

played by: karotte, mathias kaden, sebo k, stefan goldmann... franklins early musical roots began with a taiwan drumset and a hohner organ. after some training years under the influence of metal, jazz, 70sprog/rock and live perfomances as a versatile drummer his transition to electronic music began with an amiga 500 computer. the trackermusic of this machine lead him to the early techno music of the 90s and early production experiments in his fathers home studio. first releases followed in 1995 to 96 on the label fusion records (w/ 303 nation member, patrick vauillaume). later he released as tichy on various frankfurt techno labels until at the end of the 90s his search for inspiration brought him to a very experimental production phase without the 4 to the floor presetting. from this he developed his distinctive trademark sound with straight grooves and frisky sound design. meanwhile franklin was gaining more international recognition with releases on well-known labels such as trapez ltd, karmarouge noir, einmaleins musik and treibstoff. his singles entered the charts of the german groove magazine, german dance charts and the charts of djs worldwide. after his last release on resopal red he is coming up with his debut on leena music.

already supported by pan-pot, sebo k, anja schneider, kiki, karotte... simplicity is the name of the game on both tracks here. on >louder elvis<, the two unleash pure deep-house bounce over ominous, detroit-inspired pads, clean-as-a-whistle bleeps laser their way through a fog of dubbed-out delay. the tunes flow suggests a live session, with tumbling chords following their own whims, but theres nothing haphazard about it. this ones all about the afterhours, head down and moving steadily into the light. a vocal sample kicks off >radio graceland< but dont expect any bloated rock n roll theatrics. instead, van dowski and agnès lay down a slowly rolling groove with a latin touch and even a little bit of reggaetón lurch. hand drums dapple the landscape with faded colors, keeping the mood subdued—at least, until the beat gathers steam and bright, syncopated chords splash about. groaning analog noises push the energy restlessly forward, driving dancers to wild abandon: the track is as effective as it is unconventional. what else would you expect from two of switzerlands most uncompromising crowdpleasers
