LUNAR WAVES EP
12 Inch
09.12.16
no bad days is back for round 2. ‘in the galleria’ slides in with dreamlike pads and a real euphoric feel to the whole track. just right for those balearic sunsets. second on the a side is ‘celestial bodies’ - a melodic freestyle jam that makes us feel like we’re down at the arcade playing ‘out run’ on a dusty mega drive.
over to the flip we start off with the title track, ‘lunar waves’ beginning with a tougher feel it hints at a hardware acid workout... but half way in roberto hits you with those dreamy pads again and just has us in his hands for that synth solo at the end! rounding off the ep perfectly is ‘when u come around’, a real ‘end of summer sitting down at the park with your mates’ kind of track...mmm...

for the 6th no bad days release, the label pulls in a shining star from an unlikely place: the city of bandung, indonesia. already loved at home for his work with disco edit gang midnight runners, here munir strikes solo, offering up an extension of his synthcraft and taste for low-slung modern funk + boogie.

after a run of club-ready 12”s, the fifth no bad days release slows the pace right down. on the views from my shed ep, long-standing friend of nbd james booth breaks in new alias the gardener with an easy-going record inspired by nature and sure to inspire relaxed, repeat listens.
DAZZLE SHIP EP

16.03.17
‘dazzle ship’ comes from the mysterious moniker of donald dust, switching the script for no bad days into something more cosmic, with five skyward songs of variety and velocity. think italo tinged burners, the greatest 80s sci-fi soundtracks that never were, and beatless drift with a synth bought off demdike stare to close.
dazzle by name, dazzle by nature…

z lovecraft brings dubbed out bliss, rivieria percussion and 80’s curb stomping beats to the table with his the creator ep. as well as being part of the team that runs rhythm section, z lovecraft works at yam records, has a cat called mrs. sohi and a dog called frank.
polish wunderkind selvy inaugurates no bad days with the pops ep, four tracks of tropical & grandiose house music. pops opens up with a bold statement in ‘wishing well’, a peaktime epic with the sort of disneyviajohn carpenter sweeping flourishes. following that is ‘basics’, perhaps the most playful of all the tracks: all bouncy synth melody, groovy bassline and dreamy pads. on the flip, ‘bump pump’ is arguably the most energetic helping on the ep, a percussive workout with gongs and all. if crash bandicoot was to make house music, this is close to how he’d sound. rounding the release off is the title track ‘pops’, perhaps the most original and subtle track with colourful vhs synths and strange sounds pinging across the mix.
