spain s slow town rarely fails to deliver the goods. split, so called because it contains tracks from numerous artists, more than lives up to the label s rising reputation. it probably helps that the a-side comes from former bent man and longtime east midlands deep house stalwart nail. his -shake back- explores similar sonic territory to pepe bradock s -deep burnt-, whilst retaining the chunky, bass-heavy bottom-end recognizable from his releases for classic, shabby doll and robsoul recordings. on the flip, there s an equally assured cut from london stalwarts jonno & tommo. -wolf spirit- is an altogether more tech-tinged affair, built around a restless electronic bassline, hypnotic percussion and woozy, late night chords.

our 11th release comes from hamburg duo suburb. after solid releases on quarter notes or thema the german duo delivers this 4 tracker release luv is common. a side goes into a deep journey through sweet chords and melodies with raw beats. b side goes into a more classic house feeling with two super groovy tracks with shaking samples. luv is common is a beautiful piece of modern house music.

we have the pleasure to include in our catalogue a grooveless track by the outstanding house head, da sunlounge. one of the most prolific uk s house artist of the last 15 years having release music in labels like detour, 2020vision, tango or double down.

slow town records has really picked up the pace this year, delivering essential 12- singles from riccio and qx-i, amongst others. here, they round of 2014 with an ep of positively edible deep house from fouk man hans peeman. in typical peeman fashion, there s plenty of soul to the liquid beats and rich chords of -prologue-, while -monologue- is an attractive saunter through classic detroit deep house with the restless energy of a chicago production. mr k-s remixes the title track, delivering a heavily percussive version that sounds like a plea to head towards the dancefloor, pronto. a touch darker and altogether heavier, it offers an excellent alternative to peeman s eyes-wide-shut original.
