the dawn ep is the debut release of markey alias sander markey. who recently settled down in berlin, after he was living and working as dj and producer in gent, belgium. now he comes up with four really playful tracks. here he shows his affection for funky grooves and soulful voices. with support from mz. sunday luv, who gave her voice for a freaky intermezzo on dawn, the ep starts offensively. the repetitive groove and the marching 303 bass drum toped with a dark demanding voice have a mystic massage. as contradiction to it you hear a charming dirty string ensemble and an odd delayed snare crushing the monotony. spring break as well as in the shade, the last made in coop with robyns alias yannick robyns, have definitely the warmer funky attitude. playing around with a bobby mcferrin vocal sample and bringing out the soul. facing the clouds is closing the ep as rather melodic and atmospheric track.

hello berlin is the second release of samuel fach on tonkind. with his first one he made already a successful debut start. and for sure hello berlin should not stay behind. like the titel tells us, it is a tribute to his new home town. since last summer he is now a child of this wonderful city and this release suppose to be his first musical reflection to what he experienced there, so far. like on the first release, samuel fach shows his talent for a multicolored and very origin sound. all emotions have been bunched here, esspecialy in firts of may we got an essence of his affinity for happy melancholy. on the top... with a very cool kotelett & zadak remix of hello berlin, he got the right support from berlins men on the spot.

supported by luciano, timo maas, pig & dan, anthony collins, woody, dustin zahn. rifraf is rafael gimelstein, recently relocated from sydney to berlin, born in lithuania, raised in israel, flowered in sydney. classically trained violinist, deep as fu*k party organiser and creator of sydneys earthdance festival, rifraf is now full time producer making his distinctive sound in electronic music world. philosophy started as a casual recording of his granny klara telling stories about her time in a concentration camp in germany, and singing the yiddish song tumbalalaika and ended as a very intelligent moving sound collage. the whole peace is a trip, which feeds you constantly with changing noises and visions. although philosophy is transferring a lot of aural information, it is never telling to much and still works perfectly on the dance floor. its just an intoxicating musical tale which drives you on a wild journey. with the both remixes, one of alexkid with his deep as fu*k remix and phillip baders off runner the release get its pretentious dance floor alternatives. fifteen seconds close this fine ep, which rafael did in coop with the young israeli producer omer from tel aviv.

with this release sinan kaya, an istanbul based dj and producer, is becoming a fresh member of the berlin tonkind crew. since 2001 his passion became also his profession, which he continuously dispread with dj-ing and scores of releases across the bosporus over to europe. his productions and sets can be defined as deep and playful. so aswell this release, which comes up with three variable tracks. something else in the front, shows sinan kayas touch for the impulsive sound.this track becomes a real trip on the dance floor and reflects a farsighted feeling for elctronic dance music. on the fells operates more the minimal genre and adepts a symbiosis of many samples, a duby bass and a bumpy rollin groove. as last but not least there is bloom, a rather charming and friendly tech/ deep house track consisting all required ingredients to make it work as dance floor teaser. in all three tracks its possible to notice some eclectic material of jazz, funk, chigago and jackin fragments put together to a unique sound and providing a different vision for life

zum fünfjährigen bestehen veröffentlicht tonkind nach langer zeit mal wieder eine vinyl ep. zur feier sind es auch gleich vier interpreten die sich hier der party schenken. unter anderem die turmspringer, die sich zum jubiläum ihres labels mit einer frischen jazzig-treibenden-minimal track präsentieren. in „coqauvin“ fliegen nach aller turmspringer manier die fetzen, das selbst dem gockel die luft weg bleibt. ihren einstand als produzenten team feiert mit „vuja“ herr süüs & her sauer, die seit jahren schon als djs die berliner underground szene aufmischen und mit beherschen. auf der b-seite hören wir dann kotelett & zadak mit capriccio, welches so kühl und nüchtern daher kommt. hier wird einmal mehr minimal gegrooved und mit einer homöopathischen dosis an sounds die besten gefühle vermittelt. breger, der einzige „nicht-berliner“ auf dieser ep und beatplantation apostel aus dem ruhrpot schließt die ep mit „grain ball“ ab und zeigt, wo lang und wie schell der hase laufen kann. dubig, frisch und percusiv rollte er das feld von hinten auf. im ganzen eine sehr bunte und lebendige ep, die aus allen richtungen den wind blasen lässt. mögen die, die darauf tanzen sich keinen zug holen.
