THE MAGNET
12 Inch
18.05.10
rick preston with this new 12 from the worship label. >the magnet< is a chunky, percussive houser for the peaktime crowds, with dubby stabs and vocals mixing it up with a steady bassline, and great drum patterns, while swirling effects top the whole track off nicely. on the reverse, its heavy dubs all the way on a thick, syrupy helping of dub-house, packed with ragga goodness.
SELECTAS CHOICE EP 1
12 Inch
18.05.10
worship recordings with another solid ep release, this time featuring cuts from chris udoh and gary beck. udoh is up first with >hear da muzik<, a driving house gem with a definite dubby flavor, as delays are left to run over solid drum patterns, strong chords, and a rumbling bassline. on the reverse, gary beck keeps the dubby house theme rolling with >stick to the reggae<, which has more of a skank to its rhythm, as dubby delays are again left to exploit stellar percussion, stabbing horns, and a wandering bassline.
DEM A COME
12 Inch
17.05.10
trinity all-stars, aka hipp-e and solomonic sound (rob paine & zack eberz) with this cracking newie on worship. as with a bunch of the recent worship releases, >dem a come< is a dubby deep house number, opening with skipping beats and spacey effects before a wicked sub bass comes into play alongside stabbing synths for a sublime basic channel-esque groove. on the flip, the theme continues with >wind up your bass<, again leading in with hi-hats before a ragga rhythm establishes itself, joined swiftly by another superb dubbed out bassline and echoy beats on a track that puts even maurizio to shame! if you like your dubby gear, this release is essential!
NATURAL PROGRESSION
12 Inch
17.05.10
fans of burial mix and grayhound best listen up, cause the boys from succulent have come to mash up the hi-fi wit tha wicked dub, man. all three of their pieces use that unbelievably deep sub-bass that made their track on grayhound bug everyone out. pair that to masterful use of effects and proper ly placed samples of rasta mcs and you got that deep down, below the root line, damn its dark, kinda undaground dub shit that worship seem impossible to not do right. then the masters at the dub-house sound, solomonic sound, rework >freshly< into a sub-aquatic fun house of dubbedout bass wicked percussion all wrapped in spacey sounds. big, fat & totally necessary for any self respecting dub/house dj.
SCOTLAND YARDIE EP
12 Inch
17.05.10
worship keep their string of great releases going with this newie from seinan. >glow< is a bouncing dubby houser of the first order, with a killer bassline underpinning great drums, stabbing horns and guitar riff, and the ever-present reggae vibe on this superb dub excursion. on the reverse, >dubberware< is another bubbling dubby house gem, this time with a bit more emphasis on the house than the dub, with superb percussion, shuffling beats, and dubby guitar licks all combining atop another dubbed out bassline.
SOLOMONIC CLASSICS EP VOL.1
12 Inch
17.05.10
solomonic sound (aka rob paine and zack eberz) are one of the originating forces in the dub-house genre and have rocked many a late-night dancefloor with their spliff-heavy sound excursions. this ep collects two of their finest moments taken from rare early worship releases: the deep, moody tech of >beating heart< and the irie percussive ride of >night life<. excellent repress of these two essential dub-house masterpieces.
