to showcase the exciting releases young turks have had throughout 2013, the label are set to release a series of uniquely artworked limited edition 12inches. each vinyl will feature 2 tracks by artists affiliated with the label in 2013.

hvnxx is one of the most special projects weve taken part in as a label. some months ago the xx and young turks asked our artists to remix tracks from coexist. it was a big honour and also a big responsi- bility, specially considering that the xx is one of our favourite bands. the outcome of such challenge is a four-track ep that showcases the sound of both well-established members of the hivern family, such as marc pinol and new jackson, and upcoming talents such as round and mistakes are ok. all four remixes are pretty different among them, but they all manage to maintain the distinctive spirit of the original songs in their own way. marc pinol takes fiction to the good ol days of chicago house, laying the original vocals on top of analog drum-machines and a rubbery bassline to that suggest an imaginary collaboration between adonis and oliver sim. the elusive mistakes are ok maintains the tropical vibe of reunion but provides a warped atmosphere combining breezy chimes with static haze and a propulsive bass that boosts the song towards the second part of the remix. hiverns latest signee round transforms the fragility of missing into a soothing house cut through uplifting organ chords and vigorous rhythms fulfilling dancefloor demands without loosing its melancholic character. finally, new jackson proves once again his knack with nocturnal ambiences flipping swept away into a sensuous deep-house gem guided by an absorbing piano and a slow but steady groove. the release comes in an embossed sleeve with artwork designed by arnau pi. hvnxx is a co-release with young turks.

some may know pional as the john talabot collaborator responsible for stand tracks *destiny* and *so will be now* from his critically acclaimed *fin* album - an album frequently ranked as one of the best electronic records of 2012. his invisible/amenaza ep brings the groove and audio-perfectionism of these collaborations but adds an unsettling sense of paranoia which brings the music depth and tension - *invisible amenaza* translates as invisible threat. pionals influences arent really worn on his sleeve, but the forward thinking producer adds his influences of the zombies, roy ayres, and the police into a sound that manages to work on the dancefloor as well as the headphones.

may 20th 2013 will see koreless release his debut solo ep yugen on young turks. following on from previous releases 4d/mti and lost in tokyo, and his collaboration with sampha for short stories, welsh born producer koreless has well and truly defined his own sound. existing somewhere between soulful electronica and eno-like ambience, the emotion filled soundscapes of y?gen give the listener a glimpse into the vast concepts imagined by koreless and presented through his music, artwork and performance.
remarkable in its restraint, sophisticated despite its simplicity, and almost entirely beatless, y?gen is a bold statement that deserves to be listened to and lost in.

chairlift present takes on several cuts from acclaimed second album >something< by some of their favorite producers, showcasing how their songs can easily be adapted for the club. appropriately titled the 6.15amix, spanish equipo fantástico john talabot and pional turn >i belong in your arms< into a balearica-infused club-closer. a nifty piano line and seductive rhythm take the song on a late night (or rather early morning) trip to the beach, while carolines voice is being warped into something from outer space. photek takes the same track to a whole different place with his powerful jungle interpretation. martyn respects both the pace and rhythm of sidewalk safari, yet exchanges the clean production for a rather more cosmic beat, incorporating many of his signature touches to compliment the sinister >i m gonna hunt you down< lyric. dan careys dub mix of >sidewalk safari< shows a more playful side, while arguably the most intriguing remix of the package is the fields take on >met before<, recalling his early work it is so warped and layered you may struggle to imagine the original minus the smallest of hints.
