After his Dessous debut >Bona Fide< in spring 2006 St. Sebastian aka Gamal Sebastian Kaba returns with a new two-tracker. On >Genetics< the young talent from Manchester perfectly manages to produce stripped down and dark techhouse tunes. Both tracks spread a rather dark atmosphere with their vocal samples and an elaborate choice of sounds set in the right spots, but still manage to make the hips shake. The title track >Genetics< convinces with a sparse but very effective build up with synthie stabs and a wafting bassline. Just as well and cleverly arranged is >Backwardsman< on the flipside. The mumbled vocal sample and some spooky laughter hide in the dark behind a punchy kick, a deep deep bassline and some strange chords which make this the perfect soundtrack for your techy ghost train
