Gerald Mitchell is a Detroit Legend. He is the co-writer - with Rolando and Mike "Mad Mike" Banks - of the most famous techno track ever produced: "The Jaguar". He is also the core member of the internationally praised Detroit techno trio LOS HERMANOS and has been pretty much involved in every Underground Resistance project since their inception as well as being a key member of Galaxy 2 Galaxy.

"STRONGHOLDS (CAST EM DOWN) is Gerald's first offering for Still Music.
Gerald's idea behind this release was to present another side of his huge talent.
"Strongholds (Cast Em Down)" is a deep techno joint that showcases Gerald as a Detroit Techno master. STRONGHOLDS is so groundbreaking and influential, that Carl Craig (Planet E) even made a remix for his own use. (A shame...)

"FLY LIKE EAGLES" illustrates the more soulful and crafted side of Gerald's productions. A mix of gospel house and Motor City Techno that brings us right back to the best tracks from the classic Detroit label Soul City. Gerald's production skills are amazing and the stunning use of Fender Rhodes layers, Horns and his trademarked Violins turn this track into an instant classic.

Marcus Worgull (INNERVISIONS) drops a full on Mainframe Remix. Already tested and approved all over the world, this mix just sums up another fantastic release from Still Music.

really great EP all round but for me it's the Worgull remix that will get the most spins.

Both of Gerald's tracks - the driving, forceful Strongholds and the groovy and soaring Fly High Like Eagles - are hot as hell. But I suspect it will be the Worgull mix of Strongholds that I'll be playing the most; it manages the cool trick of being both deeply emotive and sweeping in scope.

Still Music, one of my fave house labels from Chicago, and not ony, is back... Percussion:ed ''Strongholds (Cast Em Down)'' is mad guitar driven tech track with gentle keyz and high speed spacy synths, simply a dynamite. More soulful but not less uplifting 'Fly Like Eagles'' sounds not so far away from a techno monster but the jazz & soul spirit in it plus the real discoteque bassline put it on the jazz in the house category. Rich horns and clever keyz give a spicy sauce when rhodes starting. In the end the release packet is including Marcus Worgull remix on main track ''Strongholds (Cast Em Down)''. His touch is more deep tech and minimal than the original track, with old school beat machine and hidden trans europe express spirit, more closer to detroit than to chicago and more close to Zurich's Drumpoet Community new school philoshophy.
