Luigi Madonna This July sees Markantonios MKT Records deliver >Tropical Banana<, a three track EP of superb, undulating tech house from young Italian producer, Luigi
Madonna. Set up as sister-label to Markantonios Analytic Trail imprint, MKT Records has shifted focus from being an outlet for its owners experimental works into being an incubator for new and emerging talent such as Madonna. Having received brilliant support for output on Rino Cerrones Loose label and earmarked for a forthcoming release on Mihalis Safras revered Material Series, Madonna clearly fits the labels remit and follows in the footsteps of Joseph Capriati, Flavio Diaz and Mladen Tomic with his EP. The title track is a slow burning groove which builds, via a series of tweaked out effects and warped drum hits, into a muscular peak-time cut which is sent into overdrive with a massive synth sweep which really does damage. >Bacon Burger< is, as the title suggests, a meaty slice of tech house formed around a fluid set of synthetic and organic percussion which is steady, filling sustenance for any discerning dancefloor in search of a groove to lock into. The grinding trippiness of >One Day< closes proceedings with some warm chords stabs and vocal oddness atop a typically airtight groove. Luigi Madonna is one to watch, for sure..
