Der Name ist Programm: Sphärisch wie ein LSD-Trip wanken Acid Washed durch ihr Debütalbum. Was gerne mal peinlich enden kann, bleibt bei den beiden Franzosen allerdings geschmackssicher.
Die Paralellen zu Daft Punk sind unverkennbar: zwei Pariser, die aus ihren Gesichtern und ihrer Person weitestgehend ein Geheimnis machen möchten. Und sich gerne hinter ihren Maschinen verstecken, mit denen sie Tracks erschaffen, die viele Sounds, aber nur kaum Vocals bieten Damit wäre eigentlich fast schon alles gesagt, was ihr selbstbetiteltes Album betrifft: spacige Synthies treffen auf warme Beats, alles sehr clean und doch mit viel Seele produziert. Die Sound-Handschrift der Pariser Elektro-Szene ist nicht zu überhören. Das ist auch kein Wunder, schließlich veröffentlichen Acid Washed auf Label Record Makers, das Teissier du Cros, Stephane Elfassi sowie Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoît Dunckel (besser bekannt als das Duo Air) bereits vor einer Dekade gründeten - und ihr zehnjähriges Jubiläum auf ihrer Label-Website mit einigen Gimmicks feiern. Kurioserweise ist ausgerechnet eine Coverversion das Highlight auf "Acid Washed": Denn gekonnt spartanisch covern Richard d’Alpert and Andrew Claristidge den Achtzigerjahre-Klassiker "The Rain" von Oran Juice Jones.
